in the 1959 State Championship
High School rodeo scheduled
for June 17-30, listed 300 con-
testants from 101 towns, from
all sections of Texss.
All contestants for the local
show will be judged according
to the national association rules
and top winners at Halletts-
ville will be eligible to compete
for the national high school
championship title in August.
Opening night, Wednesday,
June 17, has been designated as
family night. Ladies night will
be Thursday night when one
lady will be admitted free with
each adult ticket
Friday afternoon at 4:30 a
western parade will be staged.
Katy High School will be
represented by Jackie Moni-
gold, Donna Morgan, Bubba
Monigold, and Billy Hegar.

ing to Lester Buford. Area
Supervisor of Vocational Agri-
culture, heedquartertag in Hou-
sten, Turney baa spent the past
yearteaching insect control
abort courses for adult farmers
in various parts of Toxas and
the courses have met with ap-
proval of those sponsoring and
participating in the courses. Re-
quests for services of Turney
and other specialists are made
through Mr. Buford’s office.
Plans for the short course
call for meetings to be held in
the vocational agricultural
building according to the fol-
lowing schedule: June 10, 11,
17, and 11. The flrot meeting is
scheduled to get underway at
7:30 p.m: Juns 10. Time of sub-
sequent meetings will be work-
ed out to accomodate wishes of
participating farmers, accord-
ing to the teacher sponsoring
the course.
Turney states that white

centrated on control of cotton

a study of inserts of other
crops and livestock that may
be of importance in the com-
munity.
