Dearest Baby:
The town is in a stir this morning - as I'm sure the whole
country is - over the invasion. I'm sure that the news has reached
you this morning and it must be a happy day for youf too. It has
been designated as a d-y of P r and the C ae open to the.
Iby, Jpur .ttrs 7v ;t Ken crrea but S e thing.
That vas, I think, that you gave me the name of the place you are
stationed. The censor very kindly wrote Hawaii in but took out
what probably was the name of the camp).
It has rained ever since I have been home - almost every daye.
The grass is very high and green and we should be having some very
f`t ettle around here,
Pug and his wife aro here though I haven't seen them. Mammy
h'd a wire from him yesterday saying that he would get in on the
4:30 train this morning, He has been in Seattle, you know.
I saw .Tannita Rabon yesterday and she told me that she was
goinrg out to California to stay with y. M.
I was so amused the other day. One of the Benner boys who has
been overseas for two years returned home on a furlough. He went up
to the ration board to get a little extra gas as his father had only
an A book. Lemm Allen gave him 5 gallons. He handed it back to him
and told him to give it to Fultcher - who drives a car with a c ticket
and Frances also has a C ticket on her car - and told him he'd go back
and fight the war for Fultcher. The town is so down on Mr. Allen on
Fultcher's account that there is hardly anyone that will speak to hi.d
But it's Fultcher's fault for he told on the street that it was a poor
Ian's War and if yco had enough mrorney you could keep out of t.
We are all at the office today, but no-one is doing anything.
Wc have the radio on and newscasts are coming in all the time about:
5Vsethert, iT love you moreis than anything in the Trorldc Takc
Sre of yourself for me.Yours,
