Whutilwe heard > oi tho perfermancoes was
very eroditable to the young ladies who took
part in the exhibition: hat the prevailing
fault in all such public exercises was manifest
bare, as most of those who took part in the
exercises ppoke altogether to low to be heard
half way across the rom. Thin beome so
painfully oppressive that a gentleman in the
audience arose iu his place and requested im-
provement, which suggestion met with a
hearty response irom the audience.
The exercimes generally were too much con-
fined to the femnle sex, only one boy partici-
pating, and we observod a total want of reci-
tations and singing. loth of which exercises
go so far toward making an entertainment of
that kind so pleasant. The examination we
conceive to be far more creditable to the per-
former* than to those who mnnnged the affair.
