Dear Helen:
This is an SOS for advice on how to help my friends.
They are the most polite, pleasant, gracious people
anyone would Want to know, in all respects but one: table
manners, which hit an all-out low. I can’t
understand how people so graceful otherwise
can be so completely unconscious of this
one social fault.

OF TABLE MANNERISMS AND TRYING TO HELP
Dear TTM and TTH;
Yu won’t clip my reply because you won’t like what I
am about to say, to wit;
How would YOU react to an anonymous personal criti-
N cism in your mail? You’d suspect each “friend," wouldn’t
you, and soon they might all be your enemies. If you
were the sensitive type, as this gracious woman may well
be the hurt could last a lifetime
I’m printing your letter 'for one reason: many teen-
agers, and adults, too, need a nudge on table etiquette. When
I read it, I thought, “Great Heavens, this might even apply
to our brood at times.” -and, believe me, we hit the MYM and
GE (Mind Your Manners and Good Example) button reg-
ularly at our house.
So... your gentle reminder via national hookup might
apply to a lot of us out there: if the shoe fits—or if the soup
slurps, be aware ol it! (But DON’T send this clipping to
your neighbor!)—H.
YOUR HELPING HAND DEPARTMENT

Dear Helen:
he is very jealous of me, and he thinks I would be jealous
of him if he sees his wife. I trust him and know he wouldn’t
do wrong, but should I let well enough alone and forbid him
to visit them?—FAN READER.
Dear F.R.:
I think your scruples are scrambled. Let HIM alone
and perhap he'll go back to them.—H.
Dear Helen: _
Why don’t they leave us poor aching females alone and
let us grow old in peace'’ Everywhere we're bombarded
with "Does she or doesn't she?" “Why get middle-age

sider them marks of distinction, a sign that we have outlived
