drafted for the place by Gov. Moody and

in his own way: "An actual transforma-
tion has been wrought since Lee Simmons
took hold ss manager. Not a single con-
vict come to me with any grievance. We
asked the prisoners how they were being
treated and they expressed satisfaction and
they showed it We found no evidence of
brutality but rather a spirit of satisfac-
tion and confidence everywhere. We found
only one man sick in the entire system.”
Reps. Z. T. Murphy and H. A. Turner
made the rounds of the prisons and the
prison farms with Sen. Loy. What a trans-
formation from days of old. All the con-
victs happy. All the convicts satisfied. All
the convicts well-fed. All the convicts bub-
bling over with confidence and "only one
man sick” in a prison population of more
