teachers, held its annual initi-
ation and Christmas banquet. pt.

the society with Miss Ruth Rus-
sell presiding. 1

the group went into the banquet
room, where Mrs 'Dore. Hassel,
chairman of the social comrutfee,
seated the members and guests.
The circus motir was carried out
in the decorations of the tables
and room. and included circus
wagons, animals, mi rry-go rounds,
clowns and balloons.
A menu of tomato Juke cock-
tail, turkey and dressing, English
peas, candied yams. celery curls,
cranberry salad, hot rolls. pecan
pie and coffee was served.
Miss Ruth Russell president of
the society, introduced the guest
speaker Miss Lola Thempson, V
~rarian, at Gonzales High Schorl,
whet gave a talk on "High Noon."
Such circus performances as the
rhythm band with Miss Dora Ryan
as majorette, the hula-hula danc-
hostess's with Mrs. Bradley were ,
Mrs W. E. George, Mrs. lint
Windham, Mrs C'eve Windham, ,
Mrs. W M. High, Mrs. K. E.
Hemrick and Mrs. Homer John-
son.
The group went to the home of
Mrs, Brad Boyd on lone Star for
the dessert course. Mrs. T L
Ward assisted Mrs. Boyd. As Ui"
guests arrived, they found their
names written on cards hanging
from a wreath of greenery on the
front doer.
Pie and coffee was served at a
table laid with a lace cloth uve-
red. The yuletide theme was re-
flected in the decorations here,
also. Place favors were amal
pitchers with colored bowo on each.
Gifts were distributed from a
large Christmas tree at the con-
clusion, A short business session
was held and plans made for
