degree nursing class were hon-
ored Thursday evening as family
and friends gathered in Texan
Dome for the traditional pinning
ceremony marking the student
Levelland firemen extinguished
a grass fire at 2108 Longhorn
Friday around 7 p.m.
Saturday, firemen extinguished
a grass fire 22 miles north on
Highway 385 and h5 miles west at
Zane Westmoreland’s.
On Sunday, firemen extinguish-
ed a grass fire on Dirt Road.
Monday around 6 p.m. firemen
extinguished a fire on the McCut-
chen Lease located in the 2300
Block of FM 1294. The cause of
the fire to the storage area was
lightening. There was an estimated
$4,000 damage.

Thelma Sims,.of Smyer was
honored with a birthday party May
2 for her 89th birthday. The party
existed of Sims’family.
In addition, the T.E.L Sunday
School Class at Smyer First Baptist
Church honored Sims with a
birthday card party in the home of
Sims’ daughter, Gwen Dow. The
T.E.L. class is made up of the
ladies in the church and is taught
by Sue Bell Propst.

Sundown reported that a socket set

his company vehicle. No suspects
were listed.
Sunday, Deputy Gordon Bohan-
non with the assistance of the
police department stopped two
vehicles on Hwy 114. A suspect
was later arrested for driving
recklessly in which an accident
may have been caused with the
other vehicle._____
.....Saturday, two suspects were
reported to have beaten up a victim
and also broke a beer bottle on his
head. The broken bottle had cut his
face and gave the victim a black
eye.
