Reba Windle retired on Feb. 28 after 22 years as a muncipal
court clerk for the City of Alvin. It was on the same day in
1973 that Windle began working at city hall. To mark the
occasion, Mayor Elmer Dezso presented Windle with an
appreciation plaque for her service to the city.

Exactly 22 years after she

Reba Windle retired.
The 60-year-old Freeport native
was honored Feb. 28, for her
years of service, with a retirement
reception in the first floor confer-
ence room of Alvin City Hall.
To celebrate the occasion.
Mayor Elmer Dezso presented
Windle with an appreciation
plaque.
"She has demonstrated loyalty
and efficiency and has added pro
fessionalism to our staff,” Dezso
said. “The plaque was given to
her in recognition of her service
to the city and as an expression
of our good wishes for her."
Windle’s supervisor, finance
director Fred Mendoza, said she
will be missed greatly.
“I told her last week that we
were going to have to postpone
her retirement party," Mendoza
said, jokingly.
Mendoza had been Windle’s
supervisor for the past five years.
Reba Windle and her husband,
Robert, moved to Alvin in 1973
from Pasadena.
Since that time, Windle said
she’s seen Alvin change in many
ways.
"The city has grown tremen-
dously. When we came here. I
believe the population was about
10,000. Now, it’s more than
three times that amount,” she

Manvel of discrimination, was not
present to speak as scheduled during
a council meeting Thursday night
George Robinson, 58, said the
city won't allow him to operate his
portable snow cone trailer near
Highway 6 and Palmetto Road He
claims the city is discriminating
against him because he is disabled

attend tonight s meeting because
my lawyer advised me not to. "
Robinson's lawyer, Chris
