Rollie Flohr has informed this
newspaper and the McKinney In-
dependent School District that he
is withdrawing from the race for
school board. His statement was
as follows:
“Because of events in the com-
pany of which I am an employee,
it has just become evident that I
will be moving from McKinney
in the near future. As this has
just come about, I feel that I
would be doing an injustice to
the citizens of McKinney if I al-
lowed my name to stay on the
ballot and therefore I am with-
drawing from the race.”
Flohr further stated that he
was extremely gratified at the
support which he had received
and wished to thank all of those
who had volunteered to support
him.

Locke has practiced law before
various State trials and appellate
courts in Texas, various Federal
District Courts, the 5th Circuit
Court of Appeals, the United Stat-
es Supreme Court and the Bur-
eau of Internal Revenue.
Some 100 persons attended the
Boyd buffet where an atmosphere
of an old-time political rally pre-
vailed. Guests were greeted with
music piped to the lawn, through
a loud speaker, and decorations
were red, white and blue stream-
ers and flags.
Officers were installed and the
outstanding Jaycee of the Year
named at the meeting at the
Townhouse.

The members of the Willa Lar-
gent Garden Club are most
aware of this date: Tuesday, April
2. On this day from 3:00 p. m. un-
til 7:00 p. m. they will present to
the public their sixteenth annual
flower show. This will be held
in the Dulaney Room of the beau-
tiful new McKinney Memorial
Public Library. This show will
be a standard show following the
rules as given in the Judges Hand-
book.
It has been a year in the plann-
ing and represents much thought,
effort, and work on the part of
the membars, especially Mrs.
Carey Cox, general chairman and
Mrs. Vernon Walker, schedule
chairman. The theme is “The
Language of Flowers”. There will
be one class featuring psychedelic
type arrangements to prove that
the club is aware of modern
trends, but basically it will be
considered a traditional or
“pretty” show.
Since the Willa Largent Gar-
den Club is working with the city
of McKinney on an Anti-Litter,
Cleanup and Beautify Campaign,
the educational exhibit will deal
with this.

Cox; Schedule, Mrs. Vernon
