Mr. and Mrs. Buster Wilson
visited Mrs. Oscar Greenwood in
Mary Crown and her daugh-
ter, Dorilee, received the mem-
bers of the Xi Eta Eta Chapter of
Beta Sigma Phi Sorority in their
home Monday evening. During
the business meeting, conducted
by Ona Pope, the officers for the
following year were elected;
President, Janice Karns; Vice-
President, Anna Ford; Recording
Secretary, Dorothy Hays; Cor-
responding Secretary, Margaret
Reed; Treasurer, Mary Crown.
The program was presented by
Lois Jones about “The Things
About Us”. It was emphasized
that the things about us in our
homes are determined by our
own personalities thus making
each home different and individ-
ualistic.
Dalton officiated; Mrs. Guy Jon-
es was organist and Mrs. Fannie
Chambers was soloist. Interment
was in the Dublin Cemetery.
Mrs. Onstott, wh lived in Ft.
Worth, died there at 8:25 a. m.
March 26. She and her late hus-
band, who died in 1950, were
former residents of Dublin. She
was a member of- the Baptist
Church.
Mrs. Onstott had often visited
in the home of Mr. and Mrs. Paul
Scott at 111 S. Waddill and had
many friends in McKinney.
Surviving are two daughters,
Mrs. Dessie D. Fritz, of Ft. Worth
and Mrs. Scott of McKinney; one
son, Lewis Onstott of Ft. Worth;
five grandchildren and seven
great-grandchildren.

An enthusiastic group of women
met at the Red Cross Chapter
House Friday evening to form the
“Waiting Wives Club of Collin
County.”
The following membership
committee was appointed: Lor-
ay ne Johnson, Allison Recer,
Peggy Sue Fant, Carol Lyn Wel-
ch and also Peggy McAdams of
Frisco.
Committee members will try to
contact as many wives as possible
before the next meeting on Fri-
day, April 5 at 7:30 p. m. at the
Chapter House.

high school students jand five
adults from McKinney will join
twenty six young people from
Denison, Garland, Mesquite and
Dallas and board a bus bound for
Houston. The event, sponsored by
Trinity Presbytery, is under the
direction of Rev. Bob Lee, pastor
of the Trinity Presbyterian

Human relations, the City Coun-
cil, the Campus of Texas South-

Twins play the Houston Astros in
the Astrodome and Sunday ar-
rangements have been made for
an afternoon at Crystal Beach on
the Gulf.

Bennie Sanders. Young people

long day, but a rewarding one
for those who accompanied these
young people to Big Town.
Mrs. Dean Pharr and Mr. and
Mrs. John Click visited in Carroll-
ton recently. They found Mrs.
Graham feeling fairly well but
missed seeing Mr. and Mrs. Vir-
gil Richards who were in Athens
attending the funeral of Mr.
Malile Brandon. Mr. Brandon
formerly owned the farm and
lived where the Lucas Baptist
Church is now located. He was
buried at St. Paul Cemetery near
Wylie. Friends from this area at-
tended the burial.

Mr. and Mrs. Luther Chesney
were honored with open house at-
their new home Sunday after-
noon. Many friends and neigh-
bors attended. Their daughter,
Shirley and her husband, Boyd
Dunn, and children have moved
into the house formerly occupied
by the Chesneys.
The Walnut Grove Home De-
monstration Club met Tuesday
in the home of Mrs. Bert Hutche-
son for an all day quilting and
covered dish luncheon. Mrs.
Frank Cashon asked the blessing
before the bountiful meal. After
lunch, Mrs. Faye Hodges pre-
sided over a brief business meet-
ing. Mrs. Frank Cashon gave the
Devotional from Psalms 119:50
and closed with all repeating the
Mrs. Gazell Anglin and son of
Dallas spent Sunday with her
parents, Mr. and Mrs. Luther
Trammell.
Mrs. Gladus Mathews is spend-
ing a few days in and around Ty-
ler visiting her brother, Hughie
Shard and sisters, Mrs. Bailey
Wilson of Flint, Mrs. Willie
Brown of Swan and Miss Montie
Sharp.
Mr. Earl Nickerson spent some
time in the Presbyterian Hospital,
Dallas, where he underwent sur-
gery.

her mohter, Mrs. L. A. Riley and

Mr. and Mrs. Clifford spent the
day Saturday in Dallas and Ft.
Worth.
Miss Gail Welborn and Mike
Hughes were married in the home
of her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Bill
Welborn, Saturday evening. They
will reside in McKinney.
Visitors in the home of Mr. and
Mrs. Will Craft and Lymon Ray
Sunday were Mr. and Mrs. Ralph
Eilenburg and family, Wylie; Mr.
and Mrs. Elmo Chesney and fam-
ily, Prosper; Mrs. Craft’s sister,
Mrs. Gertrude Yeary of DeQueen,
Church. The group of forty four
wil iset up living quarters in a
dormitory of the University of
Houston for three nights, return-
ing late Monday night the 8th.
The event has been called: “The
Houston Study on Human Rela-
tions.” It’s purpose has been de-
fined as a quest to better under-
stand the factors involved in
“racial tension" in an effort to be

passing them on to five year old
Philip.
Mrs. H. R. Stinson was a lunch-
eon guest of Mrs. Loy McCreary
of Plano Monday.
Four-month-old Steven, the
newest member of the Edward
Thurman family being a spec-
ial baby, is cuting his teeth in
a special way — his eye teeth
came first. Altogether Baby Stev-
en has four teeth — he is ready
for real food.
Sunday afternoon guests of
Mr. and Mrs. Earl Cook were
Mrs. Minnie Dotson and Mr. and
Mrs. Jack Brandon of Wylie.
Three Garland ladies: Margie
McCarter, Janette Burnaman and
Zoe Winn drove out Wednesday
of last week and had lunch with
their uncle, Johnny Akers and
Sadie.
Several from our community
listened in and enjoyed the
“Saturday Night in the Country”
program on KYAL, McKinney,
Saturday afternoon. This group
of musicians, both instrumental
and vocal, are from all over —
but a few of them are from our
community. About ten members
of this group entertained the resi-
dents of Wysong Center on Sun-
day afternoon recently. They got
such a nice reception they decid-
ed to visit and entertain at The
Pavilion this past Sunday after-
trict meeting at Honey Grove
April 9 was discussed.
Three quilts were completed on
this day by the ten members and
one guest, Miss Julia Black.
The meeting adjourned to meet
with Mrs. John Johnson April 2
for another all day quilting and
covered dish luncheon.
