A “key punch” error has lowered
property tax rolls by $6 million for
the Boerne Independent School
District, the City of Boerne and
Kendall County, it was learned this
week.
The Kendall County Appraisal
District has notified all three taxing
entities of the error. All three
government units have approved
new budgets and formally set tax
rates for the 1987-88 fiscal year.
Dr. Joe Doenges, superintendent
of the school district, said the error
will cost the district approximately
$50,000 in taxes for the new fiscal
year. Boerne City Administrator
Ronadl C. Bowman said the city will
lose about $24,000 in revenues.
County Judge Garland Perry said
he had not calculated the loss to the
county, but based on the tax rate

Boerne’s new fire station will be
built on the “mayor’s property” on
North Main Street.
The City Council, in a special
meeting late Monday, voted
unanimously to rescind all offers for
property on East Blanco Road, and
to purchase a 1.06-acre tract at the
southwest corner of the Main-
Frederick Sreet intersection from
The First National Bank of Boerne.
The sale price is $175,000, but the
bank has agreed to reduce the
amount by $25,000 as a contribution
to the city.
The new location is the site of a
burned-out residence once occupied
by former Mayor and Mrs. A.E.

several weeks ago and has been on
the market for months.

After Boerne was unable to get

rocketed down the field for a

Gutierrez’s PAT was successful.
This was the first points scored
against the Hounds this year and
many people, including Head Coach
Jack Moss, was not too sure what
the Hounds’ reaction to such a let
down would be.
While the shattered record stung
for awhile, one would not have
realized it a few moments later
when the Hounds went back to
work. They adjusted their priorities
