the headquarters of the Aero Club. Ma-

that more machines were not entered,
the race was one of the best he had

single hitch, the major said, and the
officials and organization that promot-

Ison, who finished first, is not un-

in good second. He received his flying
instruction at Elington, Carlstrom,
Dorr and Tolliver flying fields, getting
a commission in the aviation codps dur-

up to Detroit and enter it in the race
for the Pulitzer trophy to be held Sept.
8. To the winner of this race addition
to the cup will go a purse of $1,500.
Mr. Ison said.
W. A. Showalter, who finished last,
said regarding the race “It was unfor-
tunate that this thing was not adver-
tised more: If it had been widely adver-
tised I am sure that more planes would
have been entered. The awarding of a
cup that must be won two years in suc-
cession gives a certain permanence to
the rage.
I won’t come in last next year, you
can bet on that!”
Ison said, “Well I’ve only- got to win
it once more to keep it. I hope I can
have good luck next year.”
Welborn said. “Well next year I’ll
have a faster ship. Watch me!”
While Hoffman was rather reticient.
However when he heard Welborn make
this announcement, he looked at him
and said, “Yeah? Well you watch me,

It is absolutely essential to first eliminate all cause for irritation or inflammation, then treat to pre-
vent further iirritation, and then restore that part which nature has lost through decay!
So many dentists, either through inexperience or carelessness, fail utterly, simply because they over-
look some such spot that later becomes troublesome. They often try to restore the teeth to their natural ap- ;
pearance before having completely removed the cause of trouble.
Every case that comes to us is treated by experienced dentists, who know that particular case, not only
from what they may have learned at college, but they know it from having actually done the work many
times over. -Think of the large number of patients we treat within a week. '
We exercise the greatest care—and we use the best material—for any other kind is not fit to go into

N. B. Ison of Houston, piloting a
Thomas Morse single-seated scout
plane, came in first in the second an-
nual aerial derby held yesterday after-
noon at 4 o’clock on the beach front,
completing the 50-mile course in 35
minutes and 49.5 second flying time,
averaging a speed of 83 miles per hour.
Lieut. J. W. Welborn, piloting a special
built single seater owned by the Curtis
Southwest Airplane company of Tulsa,
Okla., came in second, doing the course
in 38 minutes and 14 seconds. K. K.
Hoffman of San Antonio, piloting a
standard Curtis plane came in third
after completing the course in 48 min-
utes and 49 seconds. W. A. Showalter
of Houston, piloting a standard Curtis
plane came in fourth after being in the
air 51 minutes and 52 seconds.
Conditions for the race were ideal,
with the wind, temperature, and atmos-
phere just as near right as it is pos-
sible for them to be. Automobiles by
the thousands were parked along the
Boulevard from ' Fifteenth street to
Thirty-fifth street -and as well as
along the streets adjacent to the Boule-
vard. Places of vantage f along the
beach front were black with people
gathered together to witness the sec-
ond airplane race ever held on Galves-
ton beach front.
The course was 50 miles in length
in three legs. The land leg from the
fishing pier to Fort Crockett was 1%
miles in length. The water legs from
the fishing pier to the United States
Lighthouse. Tender Sunflower stationed
out in the Gulf and from the light-
house tender to Fort Crockett were 1%
miles in length. At a last minute
agreement the race was started off
from. east beach.
Just before the race advices Were
received from W. B. Long of San An-
tonio, that he had crashed at Edna
en route to the races here. The other
machines failed to show up for reasons
unknown to the committee.
All eyes were turned toward east
beach as the hour for the start drew
near. K. K. Hoffman in a Curtis stand-
ard ship with an OX5 motor was the
first to take off, crossing the starting
line at 4-12-0. He was followed thirty
seconds later by Lieut. Welborn in a
little red single seater, Ison in his
brown single seater was the third man
to cross the starting line, crossing
at 4-13-25%, followed by Showalter,
who crossed at 4-14-25.

It. is not necessary to shampoo your
hair so frequently if it is entirely
and properly cleansed each time by the
use of a really good shampoo. The
readers is one that brings out all the
natural beauty of the hair and may be
enjoyed at very little expense, by dis-
solving a ' teaspoonful of canthrox,
which can be obtained from any drug-
gist’s, in a cup of hot water. This
makes a full cup’ of shampoo liquid,
enough so it is easy to apply to all the
hair instead of just the top of the
head. This, when rubbed into the scalp
and onto every strand of hair, chemi-
cally dissolves all impurities. It is
very soothing and cooling in its ac-
tion, as well as beneficial to both scalp
and hair. After rinsing out the lather
so created, you will find the scalp is
fresh, clean and free from dandruff,
while the hair dries quickly and even-

soft fluffiness that makes it seem very

— hc,
If you were just a bit of a youngster
and you made your spending money by
selling newspapers and if you should
happen to run onto a pocket book con-
taining two perfectly good fifty dollat
bills and no one had seen you find the
pocket book and the money looked
mighty good to you—what would you
do about?
To answer all those questions was
the task which confronted Johnny
Waterman, a diminutive Galveston
youngster who does a thriving business
s a street seller for The Tribune, a few
days ago.
He found the pocketbook near
the Murdock bath house. No one
had seen him pick it up. The pocket-
book contained two chrisp fifty dollar
bills and a card indicating that the.
owner was Milton M. Goetschel of
Shreveport, a member of Lodge No. 122,
Bene’volent and Protective Order of
Elks. What did Johnny do about it?
He went about it in a very business-
like way. He began accosting .every
man he met with “Say, Mister, what is
your name?” None of them proved to
be the one he was looking for and
Johnny so informed them without giv-
ing an explanation of his curiosity.
Finally he spied a man wearing an
Elk emblem and put the usual ques-
tion. The reply was “My names is D.
E. Standley of Brownsville.”
'“Well,” said Jhonny, “you are not
the man I am looking for,- but maybe
you can help me out. Have you a card
in your pocket that looks anything
like that watch charm of your?”
“Sure,” said Mr. Stanley and pro-
duced the card showing that he be-
longed to Lodge No. 960 of Browns-
ville.
“That’s all right,” said Johnny. "Now
Everyone has heard of the apparent
wonders performed by yeast in restor-
ing thin, sickly, and run-down people
to health. And now it is found that
even more surprising results are
brought when yeast is: taken with iron,
the great blood-builder.
People who for years were weak,
pale, anaemic, and all run-down are re-
gaining their strength and health al-
most as if by. magic through this re-
markably effective combination, of
tonics. And the best of it is that you
can take it in pleasant tablet form—-
no need to eat yeast cakes, which are
so disagreeable to many.
The preparation in which these two
great health builders have been com-
bined is known as Ironized Yeast. This
contains highly concentrated brewer’s
yeast which is far more effective than
ordinary baker’s yeast because it is
richer in vitamines. Vitamines, as we
all know, is the mysterious element
which Science has found to be so abso-
lutely essential to health. Due to mod-
ern methods of food preparation vita-
mines are lacking in most of our com-
monest foods—and that is why so many
of us become sickly and run-down.
; If you are suffering from loss of
strength, if you frequently become ex-
hausted, if your food has no taste for
you, or if you are irritable, thin, pale,
nervous, or generally run-down, then
try this remarkable new tonic.
Ironized Yeast will in most cases
bring a decided improvement within
three days. It will usually clear up
sallow or muddy complexions within
ten days. From everywhere come en-
trusiastic reports of what it is doing
for people.
It is packed in patent Sani-tape
packages and will keep indefinitely. Its
cost is no more per dose than common
yeast. Each package contains 10 days’
treatment and costs only $1.00—or jst
10c a day. Special directions for chil-
dren in each package. Made by the
Ironized Yeast Company, Atlanta, Ga.
