ed from a vacation trip to San
Antonio, Corpus Christi and Aran-

Mr. and Mrs. Willie Puryear and
Waxahachie, Tex., Aug. 14— Col.
R. A. Eads, head of the chemical
warfare department of the Eighth
Service Command, Dallas, a close
friend of Richard Sims, former
Waxahachian, has accepted an in-
tivation to speak at today’s Lions
Club luncheon, extended by Floyd
Casebolt, whom Program Co-chair-
men Jack O’Bannion and arl Man-
gan had delegated to arrange the
program. The colonel’s topic is
“Chemistry in War, With Empha-
sis on New Developments, Includ-
ing the Atomic Bomb.” Mr. Sims
phoned Mr. Casebolt that the only
thing that would prevent Col. Eads
filling the engagement would be
for unforeseen conflicting duties to
arise.

Levine, a 30-year-old former
Great Lakes steamer sailor from
Toledo, Ohio and now a soldier
stationed in the medical detach-
ment of the Brooke Convalescent
Hospital here, wrote Bilbo de-
nouncing him for a “scurrilous let-
ter” the senator had written to
Miss Josephine Piccolo of Brook-
Mrs. Maudie Kelly, Dallas, Miss
Mamie Castleman, Venus, Mrs.
Strotter, Dallas. A delicious lunch
was served and enjoyed by every-
one.
Mr. and Mrs. Clifton Hurley and
Audrey were business visitors in
Dallas Wednesday.
Mrs. Leia Williams has return-
ed from a visit with her daught-
er in Houston.

against the Fair Employment Prac-
■ tices Committee in Washington.
In return, Levine received a blis-
! tering letter from Bilbo, who used
I a string of uncomplimentary ad-
! jectives which the senator said
I were descriptive of the private,
i Copies of the letter Levine sent
to Bilbo and the one the Ohian
received in reply were sent to the
National Maritime Union, CIO,
publication, “The Pilot,” for pub-
lication. Levine was a member of
that group before he entered the
service 16 months ago.
Men in the Armed Forces are
prohibited by Army regulations
from attacking Congressmen.
