The Gazette of Feb. 10th'
nays that it was currently re-
portrd in Ft. Worth that an
arrangement had been made
for the Rock Island to use
rhe l eaver track from Bowie
to Fr. Worth; that it was
tonnd next to impossible to
get into Ft. Worth satinfact-
orily en the present surveys ;
that the route was an expen-
sive one to build and main-
tain. and that it would likely
be abindoned and the line of
the Albuquerque vet used
frem a point south of Bridge-
port.
Belcher in Montague ceun-
tv has very recently endured
its second big fire and reports
losses to the amount of about
$100,000, among which we
note that of C. L. Mistrot, a
building and stock of dry
goods, nearly $17,000 with
about $14,000 insurance.
We acknowledge the re-
ceipt of a charming calendar
from the Missouri, Kansas &
Tex is railway, which is deco-
rated with the figure of a
haadsome female in Grecian
costume, and with a cordial
invitation to "Come to Tex-
as." The Katy is a big road.
The Rock Island road, in
conjunction with the Fort
Worth & Deaver, will it is
said by local stockmen, soon
begin to make the other roads
hustle if they intend to pre-
serve their livestock traffic.
These roads are reaching out
for the business and mean to
corral all they can.
