Dear Mother and Folks;—
Will try this beautiful afternoon
to write to you again. I am still
getting along fine and we are in a
very pretty part of the country now,
on a river in a nice valley and are
having fine weather. It freezes every
night, but it is a still cold and we

when it closed. So you see that we
haxe been on the "go” some and we
have done some real fighting, but
thank God. I am still alive and doing
fine. I know what a G. I. can

boys gave the big ^hells’ name that
the Germans sent over at us.
We have been on the go since Nov-
cmhet the 11th. some again and haxe
seen some more of the country from
Verdun. From Verdun we went to
nerre. Am only a few miles south-
east of it.
Have just been reading in the Star
Telegram some of Billy Sunday’s ser-
mons If he accomplished all in Ft.
Worth that he intended to, he must
have had to turn Fort Worth wrong
side out. I certainly wish that I
could have heard him.
Am still expecting to be home on
my next birthday. My Division is
not among those selected for occu-
pation service, so I think that we will
not haxe to stay over here much lon-
ger. Be sure to haxe me a big cake
and lots of fried chicken because I
am going to eat dinner with you all
