SAM ARMSTROG,i arager of Lake Corpus Christi Scate ?ark, reports tht the
Army has requested permission to buld a rest camp in the Park on Aake Corpus
Christi, capable of taking care of as many as 2,000 enlisted mnen. As it is the
policy of the Texas State Parks Board to cooperate in every aay with the armed
forces, permission was readily granted. It won't be long now until Sam will be
a busy man. Ask Goode of Bastrop, Tom 4ilfs of Lake Brown cod, and Harris of
Lake Abilene. They know:
Efforts are being made to remove the floating islands from the lake at
NOR'VAUGEE STATE PARK. The State Highway Department has promised to cooperate.
Mr. E. L. Crow, manager of the Fort Parker State Park, is now busily in-
gaged in cleaning up the debris of the C.C.C. camp site which was recently
demolished by the rarmy. Some job; but we are betting; he will get it :de.
As is well-known, the Legislature is now in session. -.e have had pleasant
:isits from several members of the House and Senate, all of whom seem to appre-
ciate and understand that the State Parks o' Texas should be properly maintained,
in spite of the fact that we are fighting a. war. One member remarked, "That's
what we are fighting for.'
.M. Ernest Maxwell, manager of the Breckenridge Chamber of Commerce, who
has always been -e, has graciously agreed to givetsupport in
repainting and -i6fa i signs indicating distance to POSSM KINGDOM STATE
PARt.
Kike Matise, manager of TYLEJR STATE ARK, reports that the Army will be
moving into the new camp near Tyler within 60 or 90 days. He is expecting
"the biggest season that the Tyler State Park has ever had.
