Takas Park Walking Trail Restoration Project
The restoration and repair of the Takas Park Walking Trail is 70
percent complete. Many thanks to the Windcrest Public Works team
for making this project a priority on their already busy schedule.
For the month of October, Public Works will be continuing their
work on the trail and preparing the city for this year's Windcrest
Light Up - Fiesta de Navidad festivities.
Commission Meeting Updates
At the August Parks and Recreation Commission meeting, citizens'
comments were received concerning the size and deterioration of
the park signs. It was also noted the fountains were not working
at Brook Falls and Autumn Sunset Parks. The Commission will
examine what can be done concerning the park signs with City
staff. Regarding the foundations in the parks, Public Works is
aware of the issues and pending the availability of the parts needed,
the operation of the fountains will be addressed. The Public Works
Department is actively working on the repair and replacement of
the broken pumps.
Additional Parks and Recreation Events
In response to citizen comment from our last event, Parks and
Recreation is planning to have another Kites in the Park event at
Brook Falls Park this Fall. The date will be a Saturday in mid- to late
October. City staff will be looking at how we can expand this event
with additional recreational activities. With better temperatures
expected to be around, it is time to get out and enjoy our parks. It
is time to make memories!
