POLICE
DEPARTMENT NEWS
Chief Police Darrell Volz
We had a great time at the National Night Out and Trunk
or Treat. If you missed them make plans to join us next
year. Be aware that as we begin the holiday season the
scams seem to pick up. If it seems too good to be true... it is.
Criminals are looking for easy targets. Here are a few other
things worthy of mentioning:
" Lock car doors and always take the keys.
Don't leave your garage door opener in the car.
Don't keep valuables in the car such as purses, wallets,
laptops and guns. Especially in view of passerbys.
Consider installing a motion sensor light and/or security
cameras over the garage doors to light the driveway.
Keep garage doors down when you are not outside or in
your garage.
If you think someone is following you home, don't go
home! Call our dispatcher @ 210-655-2666 and advise
them you think you are being followed. Ask them to have
a police officer meet you at the station. Chances are, when
you pull into the parking lot they will continue on. Still
contact the officer and give them the information.
If you see something you feel is suspicious, please call the
police. The non-emergency number is 210-655-2666. If
its an emergency dial 911.
If you ever want to visit concerning anything, please reach
out to me through Ms. La' Bria Lewis at 210-507-4313. We
would also love to attend your neighborhood meetings if
you have them.
Enjoy your Thanksgiving and remember all those things
you are thankfulfor. Until next month... Be Safe!Public Works has started Christmas decorating

There are other repairs and maintenance projects that are

A Message From
Fire Marshal Zelenak
This month's safety tip I would like to talk about cooking
safety with all the holidays upon us. Thanksgiving is the
leading day of the year for home fires involving cooking
equipment. The Kitchen is the heart of the home, especially
at Thanksgiving and kids love to help and be involved in the
holiday preparations. With all the activity going on in your
home on Thanksgiving here was a few safety tips:
Stay in the kitchen when you are cooking on the stovetop,
so you can keep an eye on the food.
Stay in the home when cooking your turkey and check
on it frequently.
Keep children away from the stove, the stove is hot, and
kids should stay 3 feet away.
. Make sure children stay away from hot foods and
liquids, the steam or splash from vegetables, gravy or
coffee could cause serious burns.
Be sure electric cords from an electric knife, coffee
maker, plate warmer or mixer are not dangling off the
counter within easy reach of a child.
If you are planning on frying your Thanksgiving Turkey,
this year here are a few safety tips:
Do not overfill the fryer.
Fryers should always be used outdoors, on a solid
level surface and a safe distance from buildings and
flammable materials.
Never use a fryer on a wooden deck.
Keep an ABC fire extinguisher nearby.Make sure the turkey is completely thawed before it is
placed in the fryer.
The Windcrest Fire Marshal wishes everyone
a Safe and ... 4) qAPPyf{BI TREAgURE9
