WASHINGTON, D.C.- B'nai
B'rith International will now make
its presence felt in Soviet Russia.
In a historic move, 38 leaders of
the Moscow Jewish community
have founded the first unit of
B'nai B'rith in the Soviet Union.
The unit was organized in Decem-
ber by a B'nai B'rith delegation to
Russia.
The basic idea of forming a
B'nai B'rith group in Russia was
introduced by Billy B. Goldberg,
member of the Board of Gover-
nors. Goldberg indicated he and
his wife Rosalie would become
members of the new unit.
This marks the 49th nation that
will now have B'nai B'rith mem-
bers. The world's largest Jewish
organization has other major
plans for B'nai B'rith involvement
in Russia. Included will be re-
cruitment of B'nai B'rith Hillel
rabbis to commit to work in Rus-
sia for one year. Also, scholars
from the B'nai B'rith lecture bu-
reau will be made available for
speaking engagements in the So-
viet Union.
Another initiative involves pro-
posed exchanges and visits of
Soviet youth and American Jew-
ish teenagers affiliated with the
B'nai B'rith Youth Organization
