For City Directory
Canvassing of the city of Abilene
to compile data for the new 1938
directory was begun Monday by five
employes of the John F Worley di-
rectory company of Dallas.
At the end of the first day s la-
bor. 700 names had been written
in the record books by the enum-
erators. An effort will be made to
list all adult residents in the direc-
tory. as well as all boys and girls
17 years or older and those between
14 and 17 who are regularly em-
ployed.
Directing the work is C D Shu-
maker, who will also be in charge
of sales and is conducting the busi-
ness canvass. He is assisted by J.
H Collins, who will examine reports
of enumerators and direct the resi-
dential canvass. and F. A. Clark.
