—Alfred Weyerman late of San
Antonio who was in jail at Los An-
geles California on the charge of
murdering his brother under circum-
stances reported in the Light some
months ago has been tried for that
offence and acquitted.
—A new suit has been filed in the
district court by F. J. Beitel against
John H. James administrator of the
estate of J. R. Mason deceased for
settlement of a debt and to foreclose
lien.
—The engagement of Miss Carrie
Morriss a Popular young lady of this
city to a Mr. McCormick of Austin
is the latest work of Cupid that has
come to the surface.
—John Johnson alias Dave Harris
has been arrested and placed in the
county jail by Policeman J. M. Van
Riper on a charge of theft of two sil-
ver-plated pitchers from Mrs. P. O.
Ward at Mrs. Womble’s residence.

A Minneapolis clothing house after

has invented a shell in which is en-
closed a powerful anaesthetic. It is in-
tended to explode in the enemy’s
breastworksand put them all to sleep
when the wide awake host will
march in and arrange things before
waking up time. It is a great im-
