(Reported for the light from the Jeweler’s
Circular
Effective designs noted are the rose-
diamond the sun. strawberry passion
flower prism and bead phoenix
pineapple and fan shaped cuttings.
In the more elaborate and costly
pieces a combination of patterns
usually appears. Most of the pieces
are finished with a scalloped edge
the fan pattern scallop being a favor-
ite.
Novelties in cut glass are individual
flower globes which as the name
suggest are employed for placing be-
fore the plate of each guest. Butter
tubs for holding little fancy pats of
butter are also new.
In place of tall celery glasses for-
merly in fashion are provided a
variety of horizontal shapes on which
the celery stalks are laid. Similar
shapes are also furnished for aspara-

folding sides are provided for after
dinner coffee spoons.
A unique vase destined to attract
attention comes in what is called the
pineapple pattern and simulates both
the fruit and its foliage.
Jugs for whiskey and other liquors
copy closely in form “the little brown
jug” and have proven especially ac-
ceptable as presents from men to
men. Caraffes are still made but
these divide popularity with glass
pitchers and individual water jugs.
Cut glass is much used as presents

cases after the fashion of cased silver.
The imperial Crown ware made at
Carlsbad is characterized by its ar-
tistic shapes and delicate decorations
and is to be seen in form of bonbon-
nieres card receivers and other fancy
pieces.
English-Hungarian which comes
in shape and decorations similar to
the Hungarian has the merltof being
very much cheaper in price.
A unique ware .that promises to
become very popular is introduced
by the name “Soudanese.” It is a
species of Bohemian glass being
made in Bohemia. The shapes in-
cline to bottles and jugs patterned
after the Japanese gourd bottles. In
these two kinds of glass are inter-
mingled one representing in color
and form a broken gourd the other
of some harmonious but contrasting
color filling out and completing the
piece.

“Another wonderful discovery has been
made and that too by a lady in this county.
Disease fastened its clutches upon her and
for seven years she withstood its severest
tests; but her vital organs were undermined
and death seemed imminent. For three
months she coughed incessantly and could
not sleep. She bought of us a bottle of Dr.
King's New Discovery for Consumption and
was so much relieved on taking first dose that
she slept all night and with one bottle has
been miraculously cured. Her name is Mrs.
