Four Years on Crutches.
For fifteen years I was afflieted with rbeu
maStsan.fourxeaisot which 1 wa. compelled
l« go on crutches. Words are inadequate to
the suffering 1 endured during that
time. During these fifteen years of exis-
tenae fit was not living) 1 tried every known
remedy without receiving any benefit. I
bally began on Swift's Specific (8. S. S.)
whisk from the first gave me relief and to-
day I am enjoying the best of health and am
a well man. I candidly believe that S. S. S.

“Consider the Lilies.’’
Fair and lonely were the lilies
With their beauty all aglow
W hen our dear Lord spoke about them
On the mountain long ago.
Not the great king’s pomp and splen-
dor
Could He said with them compare
Y’et they toiled not and they spun
not
Only and blossomed there.
So he taught us from the lilies
And the birds that flew above
How our Father watches o’er us
With His tender care and love
But there is another lesson
That our Lord would have us know
It is when we see the lilies
To “consider how they grow.”
From their roots so dark and ugly.
They reach upward to the light
Till they glisten in the sunshine.
Bud ami blosom pure and white.
Flinging faraud near the fragrance
From their chalices of snow
Honey-laden golden-hearted
Thus it is the lilies grow.
So the hearts dark sad and hidden
(.roping feebly toward the light
Striving each day to reach upward
May grow fair ami pure ami bright.
There is struggle ami endeavor
In this rising from below
But the beauty of the lilies
Is because the lilies grow.

ular woman is as follows:
Who is the popular woman of to-
day'?
She is the one who wears well-fit-
ting clothes and never minds telling
the name of her dress-maker.
.She is the she who sees the possibil-
ities of a basliful young man ami cul-
tivates him when everybody counts
him a bore
She is the one who may believe in
Christian science or mind cure or a
special way to remove freckels or the
Turkish bath or in not wearing cor-
sets but who doesn’t give disserta-
tions on these subjects and insist on
converting you.
She is the one who never makes
you conscious of the amount of money
she has or her lack of it.
She is the one who when you are a
guest in her house makes you feel
that she has simply been waiting for
this opportunity to be happy and that
you are the honored guest
She is the one whose hair doesn’t
come down or whose frock doesn’t
tear when she is In some place where
it is not easy to fix it.

seen but not heard.
She is the one wiio doesn’t tell
people unpleasant things and if site
has a bad opinion of anybody sums it
all up by saying : “I do not like her”
and gives no further explanation.
She is the oue that knows that big
hats were intended for the street and
little bonnets for the theater.
She is the one who is loyal to her
friends igno. es her enemies ami loves
her husband and children.
She is the best type of American
woman.
