Delvin Bippert has been the St. Louis Comets 1st string center
through the ’48 season. Bippert’s play has been mostly as the Comets
offensive center, as Coach Clifford Sadler has employed the two players

Into a 3-way tie, since Lytle ‘de-
' feated Bandera, and Bandera de-
feated Somerset.
। in'case of a tie the champion
will be determined by a flip of a
. coin, snice there is not enough
time to play it off.
In either case the winner will
have to play San Felipe of Del
Rio, for the District 37-B cham-
pinship.
FRANKLIN KELLER
Franklin Keller is also a soph-
omore at LaCoste High and has
been switched in the Eagles start-
ing lineup from end to guard this
week due to a slowed up condition
from an injury in the Dilley game,
last week.
For several weeks now, I have
heard people talk about our foot-
ball team. Yes, you know what
I mean—I mean that many people
can’t understand why we haven’t
tp-w of our ggmes. There
are several reasons why we haven’t
won: (1) Inexperience—only one
letterman, (2) New Coach—these
boys have to learn his ways, (3) v
Lack of cooperation from local
fans.
This third reason causes lots of
trouble because you talk and tell
the players that they are going to
lose; thus causing a lack of confi-
dence among the players. If only
you would and could see that these
boys need encouragement instead
of slander; if only you would turn
out for some of these so-called
lousy games, if only you would
stop your griping and give them
praise—those boys would give you
another win Saturday.—ICampus

School publication).
