said, ”I bet it hasn’t been
this cold in 34 years,” you
were absolutely right.
The morning’s low of 19 de-
grees broke the previous fec-
ord Low for a Dec. 13, the 26
degrees set in 1932.
Local produce growers,
meanwhile, were assessing
their damage.
The hardest hit crop was
the leafy, tender vegetables.
Medina Valley shivered in
another record,low Wednesday
morning.2
The low of 22, recorded at
4:30, broke the old mark of

Medina County Oil
Texas oil production reached
the 1 billion barrel total in
1965 Tor the 1st time since
1957, figures compiled by
Texas Mid-Continent Oil & Gas
Assn. show.
There were 1,000,749,000
barrels of crude oil, valued at
more than $3 billion, produced
in200 of the 254 counties dur-
ing 1965, statistics show.
Since production records be-
gan 70years ago, the state has
produced a total of 28,403,-
016,481 barrels of crude.
Andrews County continued
to be the leading county in oil

will take the tax as a credit
against their income tax on
the annual income tax return.
The new period will be the
same as the income tax year;
and, this year only, will also
include tax on gasoline used
after June 30, 1965, to the be-
