Sunday aspect. Dante Square, in the

week, when fascisti and former D’An-

linquish office and installed a new
government.
Only the postoffice, the telegraph

Plan Combination to Further Their
Conmon Interests.
By Associated Press.
Dresden, March 6.—The German
states of Saxony, Brunswick, and Thur-
ingia, contemplate establishment of .a
union to further their common interests
without impairing their'Separate inde-
pendence. These three states now have
socialist governments.
A meeting of officials has been held
recently in Leipsig and it was decided
to establish an office, jointly supported
to promote the common welfare.
The office will have to do essentially
with labor problems but inquiry will be
made to other German governed states
for opinions as to the practicability of
a comprehensive “league -of socialist
states.” : .

London, March 6.— (By the Associated
Press,)-—Within twenty-four or at most
forty-eight hours, the world will know
definitely whether Prime Minister
Lloyd George has decided to resign
or continue as chief of the coalition
i government. This is the only substan-
; tial conviction emerging from a tangle
of contradictory rumors in the crisis
which engrossed political observers
over'Saturday and,. Sunday.
Experts today were diametrically op-
posed in their opinion as to how the
crisis stood as the' result of week-end
conferences, some declaring that the
outlook for a continuance of the coali-
tion was improved and encouraged. be-
lief that the primeminister would not
resign. Others declared all signs
i) pointed to his retirement and that lib-
1 eral colleagues in his ministry would
go with him. Some were content to
; refrain from committing themselves to
any opinion whether the result would
be a smashup or a patchup. Even if
' the prime minister stays, nobody be-'
lieves that the coalition can last much
-longer thought it may be prolonged
■ until the Irish legislation and Genoa
conference are out of the way. It is
generally credited in certain quarters
that nothing will be A 'definitely an-
• nounced until the speech of Sir Arthur
Balfour on Tuesday. It is declared that
the pre-eminent interest in Sir Ar-
thur’s utterances, will be a possible,
declaration as to the prime minister’s
' decision. .
If this expression is, for resignation
' of Mr. Lloyd George, Sir Arthur will
not in any. event assume the premier-
ship, according to repeated statements
made today, but will be willing to
take office under Austen Chamberlain,
as prime minister.
(Mr. Chamberlain is government
leader in the house of commons.)
■Friends-of Lloyd George assert he is
exceedingly tired and will gladly quit
responsibility of his office. If he hoi,ds
on, it will only be because of recog-
nition that chaos is likely to follow
his retirement in the present peculiar
ircumstances. Whether he goes or
• stays, he has decided to take an im-
mediate holiday which he will prob-
.ably .enjoy at his country home in
Criccieth, a small watering place in
“ Wales, situated in the county of Car-
narvon ori Cardigan bay. . If he does
Pnot resign, this vacatidn wili prac-
tically fill the. entire period until the
. Genoa conference.
