Washington, June 8-—In connection
with its monthly crop report today the
Department of Agriculture made pub-
lic a summary of its June 1 forecasts
for the last eleven years showing how
the forecasts have compared with the
final production of crops. The month-
ly forecasts, as always pointed out at
the time of issuance, are based on con-
ditions prevailing at the first of the
month Of forecast and increase or de-
crease with changing conditions dur-
ing the season.
The department’s summary of June 1
forecasts for the eleven years shows:
Winter wheat: Average 2.5 per cart
above final yield. Above final yiels
in six years, the average being 9.5 per
cent and the range from 4 to 21 per
cent; below final yields in five years.'

range from 3 to 11 per cent.
Spring wheat average 18.3 per cent
above final yield. Above final yields
in seven years average 36.6 per cent,
range from 4 to 85 per cent; below
final yield in four years, average 13.8
per cent, range price to 23 per cent.
In several years crops proved nearly
failures. .
Oats: Average same as final yield.
Above in five years, average 12.4 per
cent, range 4 to 32 per cent; below in
six years, average 10.3 per cent, range
3 to 22 per cent.
Barley. Average 2.1 per cent above
the final yield. Above in six years,
average 9.5 per cent, range 3 to 18 per
cent; below in three years, average 11.3
per cent, range 2 to 17 per cent; in two
years same as final yield. Above in
each year with range 2 to 36 per cent.

rise, however, for a curtain response,
fear seized the audience that she had
been shot. Examination of a wound in
the child's breast by surgeons at a
local hospital last night revealed that
not a bullet, but a big wad of chewing
gum had caused the injury.

pearance in federal court here Thurs-
day of Mrs. Mary Deering, assistant
postmaster at Valpan, Ind., according
to Homer Elliott, U. S. district attor-
ney.
