anything that we can measure In
fact He loves us w hether we know it

No one can make us believe that
No one can force us to let God's love

But that undying love is always

The shepherds in the field near
Bethlehem were told of the birth by
the angels And they were told where
to find this King and they came and
worshipped Him
God's love was manifested that
silent night "God showed his love
for us by sending his only Son into
the world, so that we might have life
through him 1 John 4 9 ’
The true uniqueness of Christian
ity isn't a belief in God, because
other religions also have that The
real uniqueness of Christianity is the
strong and sure conviction that God
is love and that the clearest
manifestation of that divine love n
when Jesus came to the earth in
flesh and blood and walked among
us
Jesus was born among the
oppressed Jewish people who were
searching for hope and assurance
They were looking for someone to
deliver them from their Roman
oppressors, but most of all they
needed to know that they were loved
Jesus came to bring God s love to us
in human form
All of us feel oppressed and
downtrodden at various times of our
life even though we are living in a
nation that has freedom And Jesus
offers that same assurance of hope
and love to all people the Jews the
Gentiles to all humanity
People in this nation and all over
the world are longing for someone to
truly love them They are looking for
some hope and a way to feel good
about themselves
This is what Christmas and the
birth of the Messiah is all about God
is showing His love for us and the
birth of a baby in that lowly stable is
the sign
Since God loves us, we then have
every reason in the world to also love
ourselves
Once we become aware of this

It's the Christmas season A time
of celebration' A time of joyfulness
gift giving, singing and worship'
But what’s it really all about? Or
what should it really be all about'
Rather than a time of eating
drinking exchanging gifts, visiting
relatives and other kinds of material
celebration, it's main purpose
should be commemorating the birth
of the Christchild
It is anticipating and receiving the
wonders of God’s love as it is
expressed to us, and through us, this
Christmastime
Emmanuel - God with us is a
mystery which is continually being
unfolded to us in more depth as we
meditate on the birth of the Messiah,
the Prince of Peace
The Apostle John so aptly
describes this great mystery in this
passage of scripture "The Word
Jesus became flesh and dwelt
among us full of grace and truth we
have beheld his glory glory as of the
only Son from the Father John
1 14
It all began with the lowly and
humble birth there in the stable in
the little town of Bethlehem
St Luke tells us "She wrapped
him in a blanket and laid him in a
manger, because there was no room
for them in the village inn Luke
2 71
The beautiful Christmas hymn.
"Silent Night" describes the scene
there in the stable where Mary and
Joseph were forced to take shelter
for the delivery of the Christchild
because there were no accommoda
tions available any where else
So the Messiah who had been
prophesied for thousands of years
came into the world with none of the
fanfare accorded the birth of a king
He was the King of kings and Lord of
lords but very few people even knew
of His birth that night
