Giddings man assaulted
outside local bar
A Giddings man, Jesus Rios
Moreno, received a busted lip,
bruised ribs and a bloody nose
outside the Sportsman Lounge in
Giddings Sunday night. The incident
occurred at 9 p.m.
Police officers said Mr. Moreno
did not know who assaulted him.
Prior to the incident he was
reportedly in an argument with the
manager of the club, said police.
Mrs. Mitchell said she sped up, but
was struck from behind by the truck.
The accident occurred in the inside
lane on the east end of the
intersection The Buick came to rest
in the south barditch and the truck
stayed in the roadway facing east in
the inside lane.
The driver of the truck reported
possible injuries She was taken to
Burns Clinic by B&M Ambulance
Service.

on Harris Street (turn north between
Giddings Auto Supply and Golden
Fried Chicken) and proceed to the
check-in point at the comer of Harris
and Railroad Right of Way. This
should cut down on the additional
traffic on Chambers Street and
enable everyone to find their
assigned location without too much
difficulty.

The Lee County Sheriff’s Posse is
making their final plans and
preparations for the big Western
Week Rodeo and Parade The rodeo
will be held nightly May 17, 18, and
19, at the covered arena west of
Giddings
The parade will be held Thursday,
slow; striper are good but hard to
find, fish are found on mud lines or
color change on live shad, fish to 10
lbs with limts; crappie are slow;
white bass are slow; channel catfish
are good up river to 6 lbs.; yellow
catfish are good through 40 lbs.
FAYETTE: Water clear, 78
degrees, normal level; black bass
are good to 7%4 lbs. on plastic worms
and live bait, several limits; crappie
are slow during the day but are fair
at night on minnows; catfish are
slow. The lake area had 2 inches of
rain last Thursday, none over the
weekend.
LBJ: Water clear, 69 degrees, lake
full; black bass are good in grassy
areas where water has risen, largest
weighed 5 lbs., 9 oz. on chartreuse
baits; striper are good through 24
lbs., 6 oz. in running water in upper
lake; crappie are slow; white bass
are good up lake with full limits
dialy; catfish are good in the
current, limits caught on rod and
reel through 6 lbs.
SOMERVILLE: Water clear, 58
degrees at 22 feet, 60 degrees at 10
feet, normal level; black bass are
slow to 4 lbs. on black worms near
the bank; striper are good in 16-18
feet of water on chrome Rat-L-
Traps and white slabs; crappie are
good in 12 feet of water on minnows,
some limits; white bass are fairly
good to 16 fish per string in 16 feet of
water on Pet Spoons, chrome Rat-L-
Traps and slab spoons; catfish are
good to 25 lbs. on shrimp baited
trotlines.
TRAVIS: Water clear, 69 degrees,
16 feet low and rising; black bass are
good to 50 fish per day per boat to 4%
lbs. on chrome Baby Torpedoes,
smoke glitter grubs, firecracker
grubs, strawberry glitter Ring-
worms and large minnows; Guada-
lupe bass are good to 15 inches on
same lures; striper slow; crappie
fair in number on chartreuse .
Roadrunner and minnows; white
bass are fair but scattered to 2 lbs
on smoke glitter grubs; catfish are
slow.

A two-vehicle accident occurred at
the intersection of Texas 21 and
FM1624 last Friday afternoon about
1:50p.m.
The accident involved a 1981
Chevrolet pickup driven by Marie
Schneider Albrecht, 57, of Paige and
a 1973 Buick driven by Fredonia
Thomas Mitchell, 60, of Lexington
DPS Trooper Bob Thorp investiga-
ted the accident and reported that
both vehicles were eastbound on
Texas 21.
The Buick was in the lead and was
slowing down to make a right turn
onto FM 1624 when the driver said
she noticed that the driver of the
pickup was not going to slow down
behind her, said Thorp.
