Highway construction
nears completion on
SH 21 at Caldwell
Construction on Highway 21 at
Caldwell is expected to be completed
within a week
The 3.2-mile project through
Caldwell-began more than two years
ago, and has gone as scheduled
The project, which cost about $6
million, widened the busy highway
from two lanes to four, including a
center turn lane.
Department of Transportation
officials say the project should
improve traffic flow, especially for
travelers to Texas A&M University
football games
"This fall will be a good test," said
DOT district engineer Pat Williams
"Previously, this intersection (at
Highways 21 and 36) was a problem
area. On football weekends, there
was always backed up traffic.”

The Corinthians hadn't suddenly
become wealthy through an inheri-
tance, nor had they won the lottery.
No, they were rich because they
had heard the Truth and had found
the Light, accepting Jesus as their
Lord and Saviour
The Corinthians, like Christ’s
disciples, were rich spiritually
because their treasure was stored in
heaven where it can never be stolen
or lost, and where it can be drawn
upon through the "fruit of the spirit”
spoken of in Galatians 5:22
Instead of having your treasure
stored in an institution which can go
bankrupt or in property that can be
confiscated, why not have your
treasure stored in heaven? There it
is always safe And you'll always be
rich - not just while you're living on
earth but throughout all eternity
We have the promise of God's
Word which assures us that "God is
the same Lord of all and richly
blesses all who call to him"
(Romans 10:12).
Wouldn't you much rather be
richly blessed in ways that will last
forevermore rather than have
material riches that soon fade
away?
Then we can exclaim with joy and
thanksgiving, "I’m rich! I’m rich!
Thanks be to God who richly blesses
me!”

The Lee County Major League All-
Stars played their first game July 10
against Weimar.
Lee County played a tough game
and came out victorious with a score
of 6-1
Leading hitters for Lee County
were Matt Cowen with two singles.
Ricky Cardenas with a home run and
double, Chad Robertson with two
singles, Brandon Mueller with a
single, Jeremy Locke with a single,
Blake Rudolph with a double.
Bradley Schmidt with a single.
Winning pitcher for Lee County
was Brandon Mueller. Brandon
faced 26 batters in six innings. He
struck out twelve batters, allowed
three walks and two hits.
Who do you consider to be among
the rich in this country or even right
in your own community?
If being rich is measured by how
much money you make, then it
might be certain successful business
or professional people who have a
high annual income
Others may be considered among
the wealthy because they own lots of
farm or ranch land, apartments or
commercial buildings, or have a lot
of livestock
Some people became rich when oil
or gas was discovered on their land
and they began receiving large
royalty checks every month for that
production.
Other people who have saved their
money down through the years and
invested it in the stock market or
have it in the bank drawing interest
every month might have a consider
able income from these sources,
making them rich or at least well-
fixed in the sight of others
Some might have inherited small
fortunes from relatives in the form
of land, buildings, stocks and bonds,
and maybe even antiques or
valuable jewelry.
A few individuals have even struck
it rich by winning the jackpot in a
lottery worth millions of dollars,
giving them an annual income of
hundreds of thousands of dollars
Some got fabulously rich by
becoming a famous movie or TV star
or by becoming a popular recording
artist
If being rich is measured by how
much money you make or how many
possessions you have, then there are
certainly many, many rich people in
this nation and all over the world
But if that's what it takes to make
someone rich, then the majority of
everyone living in this country and
certainly throughout the world
would be considered poor
However, God’s Word gives us a
different definition of rich and poor.
And it has nothing to do with money
or material possessions. It is based
on what's inside of a person, not
what we surround ourselves with in
this life It deals with the heart and
soul
The Apostle Paul wrote to the
Corinthians, “Already you are
filled! Already you have become
rich!” (ICorinthians4:8).
