Halloween has been a time of

past. It is hoped this won’t be
the case this year, but, instead
will be an evening filled with
fun and treats.
Local law officers remind
parents they can protect their
children by making, sure they are
adequately supervised on their ,

they are urged to stay in their

The Halloween customs that
we observe originated long ago
in the beliefs of the druids-
priests of ancient Gaul and
Britain. The druids believed that
witches and demons roamed the
earth on the eve of Nov. 1. Bon-
fires were lit to drive the bad
spirits away. The druids also
disguised themselves so the
spirits would think the druids be-
longed to their own evil com-
pany. And thus, we celebrate
Halloween by playing trick or

The words "Trick or Treat"'will be ecohing through Medina
Valley sooner than you think, for Halloween, Sunday, Oct. 31, is
rapidly approaching and the ghosts, goblins and witches are becoming
restless.
• This is a time for all motorists to be on the lookout for eager
little people who will be too excited to think about being cautious.
Many children will be dressed in dark costumes which blend in with
the night, and are difficult to see. It is suggested that reflective
