Fall Tourist
Season
By RUTH C. LAWLER
October must be the beginning
of the fall tourist season.
In September, we had very few
visitors. This month we have had
visitors from Florida, Louisiana,
South Carolina and Texas to reg-
ister in the' guest hook. The coup-
le from Coral Gables, Fla., Mr.<
and Mrs. James McComb, were in
SA for a convention. They visit- '
ed St. Joseph’s Church) and were
told by a gentleman in the church
not to miss seeing Castroville,
especially since Mrs. McComb’s
father was born in Alsace.
Another visitor, from St. Fran- .
cesville. La. . went to H. Sophie
Newcomb High School in New Or-
leans, and we discovered we, had
studied under the same geometry
teacher. . ,
On Nov. 20, J. Wayne Bell,
restoration architect for the Tex-
as Survey Committee, will make
his annual Visit to .Castroville.
He will have 20 .students with
him, and plans to stay longer
this year than he has previously.
We' are. sure everyone will re- ‘
.gret that■ Mrs. Maurine McCauley
a resident of Castoville Tor over
a year, has returned to her former-
home in SA. As a newcomer she y
was quite active in civic affairs.
She Joined the'garden club, took
part in the Art Fete and helped
‘with the tours when children vis-
ited Castroville last spring. The
squirrels and birds on Florence
St. also will miss her. Her new
address is 3201 Hillcrest, Con-
tinental Apts.,. Apt. 8BX.
. Bob Johnson spent a busy week
ging to art shows, but found
time to visit the L&Ls at Ft.
Davis. He was an overnight guest
in their guest cottage, which is
at the. foot of the Ft. Davis
Mountains. They, too, have been
having rain.
