set for next Tuesday.
Meeting time is 7 p.m., January 7
at the MHS Band Hall.

The coach says he got a “good
team effort” from starters Joey Gracia,
Lupe Lopez, Rosslan Hassan,
Dominguez and Frank Gonzalez, as
well as his substitutes.
The team plays Saturday, on the
road against Roma. Seventh graders
play at 10 a.m., with eighth graders
following at 11:30 a.m.

During the training cycle at Ma-
rine Corps Recruit Depot, San Diego,
recruits are taught the basics of battle-
field survival, introduced to typical
military daily routine, and personal
and professional standards.
All recruits participate in an active
physical conditioning program and
gain proficiency in a variety of mili-
tary skills including first aid, rifle
marksmanship and close-order drill.
Teamwork and self-discipline are em-
phasized throughout the cycle.
The 1991 graduate of Edcouch-
Elsa High School joined the Marine
Corps in July 1991.
Knights host
holiday dance
Eighth grade Tigers, unbeaten in
district play, have earned the consola-
tion trophy at the Weslaco Tourna-
ment, reports their coach, J.A. Garza.
The team took the second place
trophy on a40-39 win over Weslaco in
the consolation bracket game. The vic-
tory came on a last second shot by
Joaquin Dominguez, who was also
named “All Tournament.” .
