A speedy recovery is wished
for Mrs. A. E. Moebus who un-
derwent surgery early Thursday
morning. She is doing fairly
well at this writing.
John Mertink was taken to the
John Sealy Hospital at Galves-
ton Thursday where he will un-
dergo an operation shortly, as
soon as he is able to stand it.
His daughter, Mrs. Rubin Beck-
er is with him.

Sunday Sermon
Student Hartfiel of Loebau de-
livered the sermon at St. Paul’s
at Serbin Sunday morning and
also conducted the Bible Class
in the absence of the local pas-

‘Herman Carl Schiwart was
born Sept. 9, 1903 at Lincoln,
son of Mr. and Mrs. Aug. Schi-
wart. He was baptized and con-
firmed at.St. John's Lutheran
Church at Lincoln.
About 20 years ago, Mr. Schi-
wart moved to Los Angeles,
Calif, where he remained until
his death. He died of a heart
Allen W. Steele of Orange was 1
elected band director at the
Dexington High School by the
Lexington school board this
week.
Mr. Steele is married and hts
three children, both girls, six
years, and 14 months of age.
Mr. Steele was in Lexington
Monday of this week to find a
house and will live in the Wood-
con addition in north Lexington.
He has been band director at
Orange for several years and
work. She was a member of

EMIL PAUL SCHIMANK
Funeral services for Emil
Paul Schimank, 63, were held at
Trinity Lutheran Church at Fe-
dor on Monday, Aug. 15, the Rev
L. Karcher officiating. Inter-
ment followed in the church ce-
metery.
Mr. Schimank was born at Fe
dor on Aug. 21, 1891, the son of
the late Mr. and Mrs. John
Schimank. He reached the age
of 63 years, 11 months, and 24
days.
He was baptized in Trinity
Lutheran Church on Aug. 30,
1891, and confirmed by the late
Rev. G. Birkmann on April 16,
1905.
He entered the estate of holy
matrimony with Miss Martha
Becker of Fedor on Oct. 22, 1919.
This union was blessed with sev-
en sons, all of whom survive
their father.
He is survived by his wife;
and seven sons, Edmund of Ty-
ler. Edgar of Houston, Lawrence
of Giddings, Winfred and Victor
of Lincoln, and Gilbert and Cla-
rence still at home.
Also surviving are one broth-
er, August Schimank of Fedor;
one sister, Miss Selma Schimank
of Giddings; and 12 grandchil-*
dren.

FHA Executive
Council Workshop
An Executive Council Work-
shop for the “Old" and “New”
FHA officers was held recently
in the Homemaking Department
of the Giddings High School.
The committee members for this
were Gladys Ahlschlaeger,
Chairman, Mary Ann Fischer,
Nancy Joiner, and Lavine Jenke.
Gladys Ahlschlaeger presided
the first half of the meeting in
the absence of Patsy Hurst,
Gonzales.
"Teen Times”, “The Future
Homemaker”, and “The Area
Views and News”, which are the
National, State, and Area publi-
cations, were studied in order
to get a workng knowledge of
the program of work. Personal
goals were discussed. Individual
and Chapter accomplishments
were reviewed. Style or form
for writing the reports was out-
lined. Each girl has written some
sections of her report.
Those, eligible to work for
their State Degree must have
completed two years of home-
making and hold their Junior
and Chapter degrees. A “B" av-
erage in English and Homemak-
ing is required. Only juniors and
seniors may apply. We encour-
age other FHA members who
are interested to start work for
the State Degree.
