advantage of some miscues, and
won by twenty points. Before the
Navasota game all the players
knew that we would lose Joe
Mitchell and James Harris to
grades. I don't know if that had
anything to do with the loss, but
all 1 know is that we didn't play
like ourselves.
After the loss of our two
starters Sealy went into a tail spin,
first losing to last place Bellville,
then to Waller and Royal. The
Tigers bounced back to defeat
two of the next three opponents,
Hempstead and Bellville, with the
final loss coming by way of
Navasota.
So ends the season that could
have been. I told the kids many a
time that I thought that the main
factor that would destroy our
chances of a sure-shot-chance of
going to the playoff would be
ourselves. We would have to take
care of our own business and we
didn't. The main reason we are in
school is not to play sports or be
in the band or a play but we are
here to get an education.
I feel sorry for the boys. They
went through a lot this season.
They played well and they have
learned a lot.
Twenty to nine isn't all that
bad. I was fortunate to coach a
great group of kids, and 1 believe
that Sealy should be proud of
their 1988-89 boys varsity team
