Sealy High School band stu-
dents traveled to Tomball
Saturday, February 25 to compete
in the UIL solo and ensemble
contest. This particular contest
was scheduled to be held on Feb-
ruary 4. However, because of the
icy weather conditions, Sealy
could not attend, and was re-sche-

Services for Frank H. Mikeska,
82, of Kenney were held at 2:00
p.m. on Monday, February 27,
1989 from St. Paul’s Lutheran
Chuch in Phillipsburg with Rev.
Russell Zeiner officiating. Burial
was in the St. Paul’s Lutheran
Church Cemetery.
Pallbearers were Floyd Mikes-
ka, Delano Mikeska, Reuben
Mikeska, Robert Mikeska, Floyd
Vacek and Bart DeWitt.
Frank Mikeska died at 4:40
p.m. on Saturday, Februay 25 in
the Colonial Belle Nursing Home .
in Bellville following a lengthy ill-
ness.
He was born on January 28,
1907 in Nelsonville to Frank W.
and Henrietta Lepps Mikeska. He
attended the Travis Public School
in Kenney. He was a farmer and
rancher, he also worked for over
20 years with the Texas South-
eastern Gas Company, and after
retiring from Southeastern Gas,
he worked for the Bellville Golf
and Recreation Club. He was a
member of St. Paul’s Lutheran
Church of Phillipsburg, where he
was a member of the Brotherhood
and served on the church council.
On August 11, 1934, he was
married to Helen Roehling in
Zionsville Lutheran Church.
Survivors include wife, Helen
Mikeska of Kenney; sons and
daughters-in-law, Delano and
Donna Mikeska of Kenney and
Floyd and Patsy Mikeska also of
Kenney; brothers, Robert Mikes-
ka of Bellville; brothers and
sisters-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. Rue-
ben Mikeska of Kenney and Mr.
and Mrs. Alfred Mikeska of
Waller; brother-in-law and his
wife, Mr. and Mrs. Alvin
Roehling of Long Point.
Frank Mikeska was preceded in
death by his parents; two sisters,
Hilda Mikeska and Mrs. Ella
Tegeler; one brother, Ferry
Mikeska and his only grandchild,
Michael Lynn Mikeska, who
passed away December 25, 1979.
Funeral services were under the
direction of the Etlinger Funeral
Home of Bellville.

The Sealy Area Historical •
Society will meet on Thursday,
March 9, at 6:00 p.m. at the Gor- *
don Memorial Library for a ‘
reivew of the successful Sweet-
heart Homes Tour. Other discus-
sions will include the ongoing
fund raising for the moving of the
Brietzke house, with formal bids
to be received; the preparation for
an early fall auction at the Lieder *
tafel; a review of the jails avail-
able for historical society’s use, to
be restored on site; and other
exciting detail work as the Sealy
Main Street project unfolds.

Chas. Mersmann on Wednesday
afternoon.

Coshatte visited Mr. and Mrs.

Mrs. Schutte died Sunday,
February 26 in the Katy Commu-
nity Hospital.
Survivors include her husband
of 61 years, Myles O. Schutte of
Sealy; daughter, Ms. Arlette Kurz
of Atlanta, Georgia; son and
daughter-in-law, Myles H. and
Mary Louise Schutte of Houston;
■ grandsons, Myles Paul and
Charles Hall Schutte, both of
Houston. She was preceded in
death by her parents.
The funeral was held under the
direction of the Etlinger Funeral
Home of Sealy.
