To The Editor:
Last week, I wrote a letter to the editor saying to the
effect that religion should be on the student’s own time,
not on TWC’s time. As I see it, a student goes to college
for study, not for wasting his time on religion.
During the week, classes were postponed for Religious
Emphasis Week—why? Not many students attended the

Delta Sigma
Names
New Officers
by Dora Owens
The Gamma Phi chapter of the
International Business Fraternity
of Delta Sigma Phi has elected its
officers for the spring semester.
The newly-elected officers of the
fraternity are: Hector Venegas, pre-
sident; Bill Gebler, senior vice-pre-
sident; Ted Wagoner, vice-president;
Ronnie Shelan, recording secretary;
Ed Lowenberg, corresponding se-
cretary; John Byrne, treasurer;
Fred Becker, h storian; and Pat Ma-
honey, Chancellor.
Appreciation is extended to the
outgoing officers who, through their
i work, have advanced the fraternity
(to one of the foremost organiza-
tions on campus. Past events have
included the erection of the frater-
nity’s letters over Kidd Field, tours
of local industries, and banquets
with speakers on the subject of bu-
siness administration. Spring rush
is currently in progress.
KVOF Static
By BILL WATKINS
KVOF has an interesting show lined up this Sunday on
KELP. The show, “This Is Texas Western” features the
mayoralty candidates for El Paso this week. The candidates
spoke at the Wednesday Forum, giving their platforms, ideas,
land, in the course of the afternoon, some very witty com-
ments. For those of you who missed the forum, it should be
EXCHANGE
The first sorority-fraternity ex-
change of the spring semester took
place at the Phi Beta Chi lodge,
1315 Randolf St., Tuesday night.
The Phi Beta Chi’s honored the
TKE's with dancing and refresh-
ments from 7:30 to 100:00 p. m. The
exchange was given in appreciation |
of all the help the sorority has re-
ceived from the TKE’s in remodel- |
ing their lodge.
lectures; therefore, it was un-
necessary to postpone classes. If
there has to be religious empha-
sis on the campus, let it be con-
fined to the existing religious
organizations on the campus and
to the student’s own church. It
was and is useless to postpone
classes for Religious Emphasis
Week—not that many students
care to be brainwashed into
Christianity.
