All senior students who plan
to graduate in January, 1968
should take a student trans-
cript to the office of the ap-
propriate academic dean im-
mediately.
It will also be necessary to
complete the following by Oc-
tober 15, 1967:
1. Pay $5 diploma fee in the
Business Office. Take receipt
to your dean’s office.
2. Clear with the Placement
Bureau. Take receipt to your
dean’s office.
3. Complete “Application for
Degree” in your dean’s office
after completing the above.
REMEMBER: Both receipts
must be in your dean’s office
no later than October' 15, 1967.
The 1967 Spur Regional
Convention will be held Fri-
day and Saturday in the She-
raton-El Paso Motor Inn. The
UT El Paso chapter of Spurs,
the sophomore women’s hon-
orary organization will host
this year’s convention.
Out of town chapters will
include Eastern New Mexico
University, New Mexico High-
lands University, New Mexico
State University, Northern Ari-
zona University and the Uni-
versity of New Mexico. The
regional officers of Spurs will
also attend the conference.
Convention activities begin
Friday afternoon with a sign-
in and an evening get acquaint-
ed dinner,. Following dinner,
the visiting girls will be
guests of UT El Paso Spurs and
the Student Association for
the 8 p.m. Magoffin Auditor-
ium performance of comedian
Richard Pryor.
Activities will continue Sat-
urday morning with breakfast
and a business session during
which Northern Arizona Spurs
will initiate New Mexico High-
land’s newly formed chapter.
Lunch will follow with a shop-
ping and sightseeing trip to
Juarez in the afternoon.
The convention will close
with a 7 p.m. banquet. Guest
speaker Judy Haddad, out-
standing ex-Spur, will discuss
“Being True to Yourself.” El
Paso folksinging duo Ron and
Sue Gordon will entertain.
Kathy Bridges, Spur advi-
sor, and Reenie Rister are in
charge of conference planning-
their baccalaureate degrees
and will become eligible to
apply for Regular Army com-
missions.
Eight UT El Paso ROTC stu-
dents were designated Distin-
guished Military Students at
drill ceremonies held on Tues-
day, September 26, 1967, at the
University parade grounds.
Colonel Leon F. Lavoie, pro-
fessor of military science,
with the concurrence of Pre-
sident Joseph M. Ray, presen-
ted the Distinguished Military
Students awards and letters of
appointment to the following
ROTC Cadets: Agustin Cha-
vez, William Patrick Gilhooly
Jr., Ricardo Gonzalez. Walter
Caldwell Ingram, Robert Ed-
mond Price, Richard Sambra-
no, Bertrand Jeffrey Schreib-
stein. and Allen Wendell Shef-
field.
Prerequisites for DMS hon-
ors include a high academic
record and demonstration of
leadership qualities demanded
of Regular Army Officers.
Cadets maintaining continu-
ed high standards of academ-
ic work and leadership during
their senior year will be de-
signated Distinguished Mili-
tary Graduates upon obtaining
9 a.m. to 12:00 noon
10:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.

The Alpha Iota Chapter of
Sigma Delta Pi, honorary so-
ciety for Spanish majors, is
holding its fall membership
drive.
People may qualify for the
society if they have a 2.75
over-all average and a 3.2
average in all Spanish courses
taken. Prospective members
must have had at least two ad-
vanced Spanish courses or
have had one and be taking
the second.
