In Grapevine, 87-octane gaso-
line costs $2.65 per gallon at the
Sun’s Ship Store.
One reason for the rates com-
pared to those found at gas sta-
tions on land is volume.
“We sell about as much gas in
a year as a service station does in
two weeks,” Trett said.
Kenneth Howell, an employee
at Sun’s Ship Store, said he buys
his gasoline from the supplier for
about the price of what premium
is selling for at regular stations.
“Not many people complain
about the price,” he said. “They
just pay it. But I expect that we’ll
sell less gas than normal.”
Most stations said they don’t
make much profit on gasoline,
but they do the best they can
because of the nature of the sea-
sonal business. Expenses are
also higher, with more atten-
tomime group, “Mixed
Company” will receive special
recognition on a recent award.
•The Senior Striders walking
group meets at 7:30 a.m. each
day in the gym at the parks and
recreation center.
•The weekly crochet class
meets from 12:30 to 1:30 p.m.
each Tuesday. All levels may
attend.
•Weekly Tuesday night din-
ner will be at Arby’s Restaurant.
Meet at 5:30 p.m., then return to
the senior center for game night
beginning at 6:30 p.m.
•The computer club has
changed the weekly meeting day
to each Wednesday. Internet
access is available free of charge
in the computer lab.
•New sewing group will meet
each Wednesday at 10:30 a.m.
This group is open to everyone
interested in sewing and quilt-
ing.
•Ladies bridge group meets
at 6 p.m. each Wednesday. To
join a game, contact the Senior
Center.
•A bingo session takes place
at 9:30 a.m. each Thursday at
Wal-Mart.
•The Denton County veteran
services officers are in the gov-
ernment center from 9 to 11 a.m.
each Thursday. Anyone interest-
ed in gathering more informa-
tion regarding benefit eligibility
is encouraged to visit with the
officers. All services are provid-
ed free of charge for veterans
and their families..
•The new arts, drawing and
painting group meets from 1 to 3
p.m. each Thursday. All levels of

topped the district’s passing
rates with 97 percent. At
Marcus High School, 94 per-
cent passed; Hebron, 92;
Lewisville, 90; and The Colony,
93. At LLC, 78 percent passed.
In social studies, Marcus
High School, Flower Mound,
and LLC juniors each had 100
Colony and Hebron, 91; and
Lewisville, 90. LLC had 44 per-
cent passage.
Statewide, students are
showing strides in standard-
ized test scores:
•English Language Arts:. 87
percent passing, up from 69
percent last year.
•Mathematics: 85 percent,
up from 68 percent last year.
•Social Studies: 97 percent
