Position: WASTEWATER PLANT OPERATOR 1.
Duties: Maintain and operates the city’s wastewater treatment system in a safe,
effective, and efficient manner. Requires technical expertise. Duties include oper-
ating wastewater treatment plant, taking samples of wastewater, and performing
tests on samples, and maintaining facilities and equipment. Individual will be
cross trained for water treatment plant operations.
Requirements: Knowledge of methods, practices, and equipment used in surface
water and wastewater treatment plants and appropriate laboratory analysis. The
ability to handle dangerous chemicals, understand and follow detailed instruc-
tions, work without direct supervision; attend and understand technical courses,
perform basic mathematical calculations; assume responsibility for complete oper-
ation of treatment plant; operate specialized equipment, detect and repair, or
report for repair, problem in equipment operations, tolerate outside working con-
ditions, including exposure to adverse weather conditions, and maintain appropri-
ate necessary certifications. High school graduate, or equivalent, plus at least three
years of experience in wastewater treatment plant operations. Appropriate Texas
driver’s license and a class "C" Water and Wastewater Treatment Certification
from the Texas Natural Resource Conservation Commission, or the ability to
obtain within two years of employment.
Salary: $23.537.97 or Salary commensurate with experience.
Position: SERVICE WORKER FOR STREET DEPARTMENT.
Duties: Assists with mainenance of city streets, sidewalks, curbs and drainage sys-
tems, using light and heavy equipment and hand tools; Plants and trims grass,
trees, and brush, performs traffic control at work sites; and assists with perform-
ing minor repairs on equipment.
Requirements: Knowledge of methods, practices, material and equipment used in
street and drainage system maintenance; and use and care of tools and specialized
equipment. The Skill and ability to understand and follow instructions; learn to
operate standard maintenance equipment, tolerate outside working conditions,
including exposure to adverse weather conditions, and establish and maintain
effective relationships with co-workers. Sufficient education to read and write.
Salary: $1,264.40 month or Salary Commensurate with experience.
