Deming- Cannon
Mr. and Mrs. G. Richard Deming, of Kingwood, are pleased to announce
the engagement of their daughter, Deborah Grace Deming, to Justin Craig
Cannon, of Austin.
The bride-elect received her BA in elementary education from the
University of Texas, where she was a member of Zeta Tau Alpha society. She
is currently a second grade teacher in the Austin Independent School
District.
The groom-elect is the son of Betty N. Cannon, of Boerne, and Craig E.
Cannon, also of Boerne. Justin is a 1995 graduate of Boerne High School.
He is a 1999 graduate of the University of Texas, where he received a BBA
in marketing and was a member of the Delta Tau Delta fraternity. He is
employed with Dell Computers in Austin.
The couple will be married Aug. 26, 2000 at the Episcopal Church of the
Good Shepherd in Kingwood. Following a wedding trip to the Cayman
Islands, the couple will reside in Austin.

Daughon graduated from Boerne
, High School in 1997.
Thanks to all of the advanced
placement courses at Boerne High
School. Daughon was able to start at
the University of Texas as a sopho-
more and complete her degree at UT
in three years.
She earned a Bachelor of Arts in
Psychology with a minor in
Spanish. Daughon is a member of
the National Society of Collegiate
Scholars and was honored April 15
at UT Honors Day program.
She will continue her studies in
fall 2001 in the area of art therapy.
Daughon and her parents are
appreciative of all of her advanced
placement teachers and the Boerne
Classroom Teachers Association
Scholarship awarded to her.
Holly Ann Hawkins, of Dallas, daughter of Dr. O.S. and Susie Hawkins, is
engaged to be married to David M. Shivers, II, of Dallas, son of Suzanne and
Mike Shivers, of Boerne.
The bride-elect graduated from Texas Christian University in Fort Worth
after attending high school in Fort Lauderdale. Fla. She is currently
employed by Dallas Summer Musicals and attends Dallas Baptist University
to earn a master’s degree in counseling.
The future groom is a 1990 graduate of Boerne High School and Texas All-
State member of the State Runner-up Championship Greyhound basketball
team in 1990. He played collegiate basketball at Southern Methodist
University indallas and Concordia Lutheran University ine Austin.He
received a Bachelor of Arts in Business in 1995 from SMU. He traveled with
the Harlem Globetrotters and Athletes in Action basketball teams in Europe,
Asia, Australia and North America before settling in business in Dallas.
David currently attends Southwestern Theological Seminary in Fort Worth
seeking a Master of Divinity degree.
The couple plan an Aug. 12 wedding at First Baptist Church in Dallas,
where the bride’s father was formerly the senior pastor. Dr. Hawkins will
officiate the worship ceremony.
Holly and David will reside in Dallas after their honeymoon on the West
Coast.

ACT test to be given Sept. 23
The next ACT Assessment will be
administered Sept. 23.
College-bound high school stu-
dents must register for the college
admissions and placement exam by
Aug. 18, the deadline for having
your registration postmarked.
There is a late registration post-
mark deadline of Sept. 1, but an
extra fee is charged for late registra-
tions.
ACT scores are accepted by virtu-
ally all U.S. colleges and universi-
ties, including all Ivy League
schools, and are used along with
other student information, such as
high school grade point average, for
admissions decisions and to help
place students in appropriate cours-
es for their academic achievement.
The test fee is $23.
Students can register for the ACT
by getting information from their
high school counselors or online at
ACT’s website at www.act.org.
The website also has helpful infor-
mation, sample tests and the oppor-
tunity to order test prep materials
including an interactive CD-ROM,
ACTive Prep, which contains actual,
timed tests, and helps students build
a study plan.

Gamma Delta fraternity.

position of Minister of Youth
at St. Luke’s Episcopal
Church in Birmingham, Ala.

O'Banion
Dan and Pam O’Banion, of
Boerne, are proud to announce the
arrival of their first grandchild,
Jordyn Hailey. She was born July 13
at 10:10 a.m. weighing seven
pounds, 11 ounces and measuring
21.5 inches long. The new family of
three, Clifton, Amy and Jordyn, are
