'Decades of Comfort continues
The next presentation of “Decades Of Comfort” by the
Heritage Foundation under the direction of the Comfort Public
Library is scheduled for Oct. 28. Those familiar with this
series of Comfort’s history can tell you how interesting it has
been.
The sessions cover a certain period of time and explain the
development, deterioration and then redevelopment of this
fantastic little settlement. Maybe the best part of the hour or so
is when the lecture is over and the questions and discussions
of what was presented take place. A lot of new things come to
light and more of the history comes out.
Saturday’s time period covers 1918 to 1960. Discussed will
be highway development, schools consolidation, the Great
Depression, World War II, the centennial celebration and the
hospital.
Think what this country went through during this time and
how Comfort was affected. You’ll find our ancestors and even
some who were around during all or part of those years were
pretty tough and made the best of what they had and came out
pretty good.
Again, try not to miss this session. The plans are to have only
one more time segment after this one, so time is running out,
so to speak.
This session will be Oct. 28 at 11 a.m. at the Comfort
Community Center on the corner of High and Seventh Street.
See you there.
