Henry Schaer and Miss Salomon
were instrumental soloists, while
Lambert Moebes, of Katy, for-
merly of Sealy, and now a mem-
ber of Lad Janda’s orchestra,
gave a beautiful rendition of
“Now is The Hour,” as a part of
the program. George Wayne
Kunze added zest and action
with a splendid tap number, with
Mr. Moebes at the piano.
Joe Paul Shepperd was crown
bearer and carried the queen’s
crown on a dainty white pillow.
Little Misses Patsy Ann Vykou-
kal, Jo Nell Pyka, Dolores Brast,
Jo Marie Hradil, Janie Rae Par-
cus and Doris Jean Krchnak ser-
ved as flower girls, each wear-
ing a frilly evening frock for
this very special occasion.

A delicious chicken stew, with
S. E. Tolbirt, as master of cul-
inary arts for the occasion, was
served at five o’clock, and the
program followed. A large
crowd turned out for the event
and enjoyed the dance by Lad
Janda following the ceremony.
Assisting with the May Fete
was Mrs. Sibyl Glenn Bock, who
helped with the arrangements of
the coronation. The Sealy Post
442 of the American Legion and
the Ladies Auxiliary sponsored
the festival, which was termed a
grand success.
Misses Peggy Tolbirt and Ben-
ny Jean Smith were usherettes
for the coronation.
TWO FORMER SEALY
HI GRADUATES RECEIVE
ASSO. OF ARTS DEGREE
Clara Marie Callas and Clara
Jez, formerly of Sealy high
school received the Associate of
Arts degree from Blinn College,
Brenham, Texas. Commencement
exercises were held on the col-
lege lawn Monday night, May
31, 1948. A. J. Ferguson, super-
intendent of schools of Navasota
gave the commencement address.
Eighty graduates received the
Associate of Arts degree. This
was the largest graduating class
in the 65 year history of Blinn
college.
Miss Jez taught at the Harts-
ville school during the past
school year and attended classes
at Blinn on Saturdays to com-
plete her work. She complet-
ed this semester, majoring in ed-
ucation.
Miss Callas was drill major of
the drum and bugle corps at
Blinn, also serving as girls’
sports editor of Jolly Rogers’ Log
the school publication. She was
a member of the girls literary
club, the Konza Klub, in which
she served as reporter.
The baccalaureate and com-
mencement exercises were both
held on the school campus, bac-
calaureate being held on Sun-
day, May 30, at 8 o’clock in the
evening.
