Winchester News

H. D. MEETS
The Winchester Home De-
monstration club held its
monthly meeting on March 21,
in the home of Mrs. Cecil
Hart, with Miss Anna Rosen-
hein as hostess.
The meeting was called to
order. Ten members answered
the roll call with the question
"When did you get your drivers
license and the type of modern
driver license law you would
like Texas to have?”
Mrs. Hulda Ephraimand Mrs.
Marvin Wenke gave the demon-
stration on Drivers Re-educa-
tion.
Minutes were read and the
treasurers report given and
accepted.
Mrs. Milton Koenning gave
the council report. Wincnester
club to serve refreshments for
the council meeting on March
28.
Spring tour is to be April
19. The next meeting will be
in the home of Mrs. Eugene
Haschke on April 18.
Mrs. Eunice Karisch gave
the hostess gift. The meeting
was adjourned. Delicious re-
freshments were served by the
hostess.
HONOR SON WITH SUPPER
Mr. and Mrs. Arnold Leh-
mann honored their son, Mel-
vin Roy, with a barbecue sup-
per Friday night at the Com-
munity Hall. The supper was
in honor of his confirmation
on March 19. Many friends
and relatives were there to
congratulate him.
NEW ARRIVAL
Mr. and Mrs. Foster Lee
Meier of Houston were happy
over the arrival of little Miss
Katherine Diane on March 27.
She tipped the scales at 7 lbs.
13 ozs. She was welcomed by
his sister, Cindy. Her grand-
parents are Mr. R. C. Meier,
of Rt. 3, Giddings and Mrs.
Beulah Meier of New Iberia,
La. Mrs. Foster Meier will
be remembered as Ann Noack
of Winchester.
PERSONALS
Mrs. Raymond Schulz cele-
brated her birthday on Friday,
March 31. Among her guests
from out-of-town were her sis-
ters and family, Mr. and Mrs.
Harold Imken and Christine and
Mr. and Mrs. Albert Goebel
and daughters of Houston.
Attending the home demon-
stration council meeting in La
Grange on March 28, from Win-
chester was Mrs. Hulda Eph-
raim, Mrs. Milton Koenning,
Mrs. Marvin Wenke, and Mrs.
Olla Hielscher. They served the
refreshments. Cupcakes and
coffee was enjoyed by all.
Mr. and Mrs. Raymond Banks
of San Antonio were guests of
Mrs. W. H. Karisch on Sun-
day, also visiting Mr. and Mrs.
Elford Zoch and Johnnie
Hielscher.
Mr. and Mrs. Melvin Fritsche
and girls were in Freeport
over the weekend visiting Mr.
and Mrs. E. C. Karisch and
Curtis. They enjoyed attending
Grace Lutheran church ser-
vices being conducted by Rev.

his mother, Mrs. Frances Mc-
