Compliments to Jane Jennings
Continuing the round of prenuptial festivities complimenting Jane
Jennings, who will be married to Capt. Hobby H. McCall of Dallas on
Dec. 27, Mrs. Winfield S. James was hostess for a luncheon today at her
Amarillo street home, and Lillian French and Mary Wyley Grisham en-
tertained Wednesday with a bridge-supper at the home of Miss French's
parents, Mr. and Mrs. W. A. French, 742 Davis. ..
The table for Mrs. James' luncheon was appointed in silver and blue
with a tiny silvered tree decorated with silver and blue bells providing
the centerpiece.
Places were marked for Miss Jennings, her mother, Mrs. 8 Ross
Jennings, Nancy Blankenship, Mrs. Guy Windsor, Mrs. Charles P. Par-
rish, Virginia Maxwell, Mrs. Jimmie Barlow and Edith Jones.

a centerpiece of unusual beauty for
the buffet table in the French home.
The honoree was wearing a frock
in which chartreuse and green were
combined, and a hostess' gift—pink
carnation corsage.

to-be from the hostesses and their
parents, Mr. and Mrs. W. A. French
and Mr. and Mrs. Ray Grisham.
Prizes in the games were won by
Betty Boucher and Mrs. Guy Wind-
sor.

Jennings, Mrs. Frank Glasgow,
Nancy Jeanne Blankenship, Mrs.

Birthday dance for Ann McFall
was a colorful Wednesday evening
event at the Abilene country club,
with her parents, Mr. and Mrs. R.
B. McFall the hosts.
They entertained approximately
300 guests, receiving in rooms gay
with holly, cedar and a tree glow-
ing with light.
Candles burned on a decorated
birthday cake, which was cut during
a supper hour and served from a
table covered with lace over red
satin and centered with a miniature
Christmas tree decorated with red
satin bows. Red satin bows also
adorned holders for candles cen-
tering cabaret tables around the
ballroom.
The honoree was wearing a daffo-
dil-yellow frock glittering with blue
sequins.
Jody Powers and Wanda Huff-
man assisted the hosts in enter-
taining.

The presentation of gifts for Christmas distribution to
children of the Mexican Mission, made to Dr. Howard L.
Schug, a Mission sponsor, and the singing of Silent Night,
Holy Night, in Spanish, led by Dr. Schug, were features of
the annual Christmas party for the Wednesday study club.
Preceding the singing of the hymn, Beth Myatt, who had
been instructor for a 15-min-
ute Spanish study at regular
meetings of the club, led the
club in learning hymn words.

He flew to Texas a few days ago for
a pre-Christmas visit. Mrs. Daniel,
who has been living in Norfolk, and
Miss Moore, who has been employed
in a Selective Service office in Ban
Francisco, will visit with their par-
ents until next Thursday, when they
will leave tin car for California.

Mr and Mrs. E K. Bowman of
Meriden, formerly of Abilene, an-
nounce the marriage of their daugh-
ter, Betty Jo, to Dr. Clyde C. Old-
ham Jr., son of Mr. and Mrs. Clyde
C. Oldham, 1842 South 13th. The
wedding took place Saturday after-
noon, Dec. 16 in the candlelit
chapel of the First Methodist church
of Fort Worth.
I The bride wore a three-piece suit
of cloud blue with black accesso-
ries. Her only ornament was a dia-
mond pin of her mothers. She car-
ried the white Bible belonging to
Jerry Shaw, which has been car-
ried by nine other Abilene girls at
their weddings, and, a white orchid.
Dorothy Jean Shaw of Abilene
was her maid of honor. She wore a
beige suit with brown accessories
and a corsage of gardenias. Hobart
Sivley of Texas A&M college serv-
ed as best man.
Preceding the service, Jerry Shaw

The wedding supper was held at
the Texas Hotel in Fort Worth.
The bride attended Abilene high
school where she was a Flashlight
Queen. While a student at Texas
State College for Women in Den-
ton, she was selected a college favo-
rite and also reigned as the Aggie
Sweetheart She attended Texas
Christian university for a year.
Dr Oldham received his doctor
of veterinary medicine from A&M
college in May and is practicing in
Meriden He is a graduate of Abi-
lene high school.

the Birth of Christ from the book

paniment for the Singing of Silent
Night and ‘Twas a Song in the Air.
Prayers for peace were given by
members in answering roll call.
Mrs Howard L. Schug presided
for the meeting and the secretary’s
report was given by Odell Johnson.
Popcorn balls arranged as snow-
balls on an antique cake stand cen-
tered the refreshment table laid in
lace and lighted from tall red whips
in popcorn ball holders A manger
scene on the mantel, and reindeers
and sleds arranged before a Christ-
mas tree hung with glittering or-
naments and lights were featured
in living room decorations.
Mrs. Brooks was assisted by Mrs
Aubrey Brooks and her young
daughter, Sharon. In entertaining
