in the Giddings Elementary Cafe-

High school students Sandra Pros-
ke, Barbara Schkade, and Carole
Tate explained and demonstrated
first aid techniques and explain-
ed how film strips from the li-
brary sources helped them.

ty Crocker Award is Dianna Mit-
tasch, pictured above.
Choir Receives
Highest Honors
The Concert Choir participated
in the UIL contest at San Marcos
on April 3 receiving a 1 in both
sight-reading and in concert. Mad-
rigal Group I received a 1. Those
who sang in this group were: Sha-
ron McIntosh, Betty Orts, Hazel
Henderson, Janice Domel, Ken-
neth Krause, Jerry Jackson, Rob-
ert Weiser, and Jonathan Harms.
Madrigal Group II received a 2.
Those who sang in this group were:
Bonnie Schultz, Joyce Dunk, Su-
zanne Socha, Maurine Wagner,
David Keilberg, Larry Jenke, Ken-
neth Nitsche, and Clayton Moore.
Individual solos were: Class I—
Sharon McIntosh, 1; Janice Do-
mel, 2; Betty Orts, 2; Clayton
Moore, 2. Class II—-Theresa Far-
rack, 2; Bonnie Schultz, 1; Rebec-
ca Moore, 1; Ronna Dee Preuss,
3; Suzanne Socha, 1; Joleen Jack-
son, 2; Ferne Schumann, 2; Lar-
ry Jenke, 1; Jonathan Harms, 1;
Robert Weiser, 1.
The Pasadena High School Choir
presented a short concert in the
gym on the afternoon of April 19.
In the evening they gave a con-
cert for the general public. While
here the members were guests in
the homes of Giddings choir mem-
bers.
Future Farmers Set
Date For Banquet
The Giddings Chapter of the Fu-
ture Farmers of America will have
its annual banquet May 3 at 8:00
p. m., in the high school gymnas-
ium.
Five members of the FFA are
now in the process of applying for
Lone Star and American Farmer
degrees. The Lone Star degree ap-
plicants are Kenneth Arldt, Ken-
ny Higgins, Edward Umlang, and
Delbert Lehmann. Harley Goer-
litz is the applicant for the Amer-
ican Farmer degree.
Students Compete
In Regional Literary
Mary Muniz, Sara Barton, and
Lillian Teinert qualified for par-
ticipation in typewriting at the re-
gional meet at Blinn College, April
23. Gwen Zoch and Hazel Hen-
derson are the shorthand contest-
ants. The typing and shorthand
students placed first as a team at
the District UIL Contest at Blinn
College April 10.
The individual typing placement
is as follows: Mary Muniz, first
place; Sara Barton, second place;
Lillian Teinert, third place; Diann
Michalk, fourth place; and Nancy
Tonn, fifth place.
Gwen Zoch achieved first place
in shorthand. Hazel Henderson
ranked second, and Oranell Schi-
mank placed sixth.
Helen Schimank and Mary Gon-
zales placed fourth in spelling.
Robert Weiser won fourth place
in poetry reading.
Students Receive
Crisco Awards
The Crisco awards were receiv-
ed by Kathleen Wagner, Home-
making I student, and Frances
Mutscher, Homemaking IT stu-
dent. The winners were chosen
on a basis of grades, interest in
home economics, and interest
shown in all school activities.
