that they can easily be applied

A combination of massive strength

#er in Abilene, is one of the very
finest insulation products on the
market. It is approved by all fire
inspectors and fire insurance com-
panies as an aid in fireproofing
buildings.
In keeping with this all-out drive
to alert the public, Hooks recom-
mends the following fuel conserva-
tion measures: 1. Insulate the
walls and roof areas of the home.
This insulation will save4 up to 75
. percent of the heat which formerly
• escaped. 2 Close all cracks through
which heat might escape—this in-
cludes cracks and openings in and
around windows, roof and founda-
tion Storm doors and windows
also play an important role in fuel
conservation. 3. In buying a new
home insist that it be fully insu-
lated—in the interest of maximum
comfort and economy. 4. Make cer-
tain that the home or building
has the right size heating unit to
- properly and economically heat
• • the structure Homes properly in-
sulated to full wall thickness can I
often use a considerably smaller
heating plant than a house without |
insulation
r There are numerous reasons for
the anticipated fuel shortage, de-
dared Hooks A shortage of dis-
tribution facilities and vastly in-
creased industrial requirements
are contributing factors to the es-
timated shortage of 20 percent less
• fuel than will be needed The enor-
mous consumer demand brought
about by the occupation of 500.000
new homes has also contributed
greatly to the situation.

NEW LINE OF TRUCKS—Among the 248 basic gross vehicle
weight chassis models just announced in the new Dodge “Job-
Rated” truck line is this B-1-H tractor of 128-inch wheelbase.
15,500 pounds gross vehicle weight (1 1/2-ton nominal rating)
and 28.000 pounds gross train weight. The trucks-have many
new features.
distribution The wheelbase for
conventional models through the
2ton has been reduced eight inches,
while the 21- and 3-ton models
have been reduced six inces. The
new strucks have been engineered
so that despite the shorter wheel-
bases. the cab-to-axle dimensions
remain practically u nc-hanghed
making it possible to use the same
length bodies as before.
New ease of handling and driving
has been provided by the shorter
wheelbases and wider tread front
axle, together with cross steering
which is a new feature on all
conventional cab models The cross
steering permits, a 37-degree turn
ing angle both right and lefts Drive
ers now can park or back into
alleys or up to loading platforms
with much greater ease. Road
shock through the steering wheel
is greatly reduced by the cross
steering, which has the drag link
running parallel with the front
axle.
Deluxe and customs cabs have
what is termed “360-degree vision"
through increased glass area and
installation of rear and quarter win-
dows. Windshields and windows of
the new "Pilot-House" cabs are
higher and wider, adding to vision
and safety. Drivers can enter or
leave the conventional cab easily
from either side since the gear
shift and emergency brake levers
have been moved forward to give
clear floor space from door to
door. :
Conventional models can be road
serviced from the left side as the
fuel tank, oil filler, radiator filler,
and battery are so located.
Dodge has seven different en-
gines to handle the power require
ments of its new line. Numerous
engine improvements have been
made. Front and rear axles have
increased load-carrying. Front
springs are longer. Radiator cores
have beent redesigned to facilitate
better cooling. Exceptional imprve-
ments have been made in frame
construction.

NEW STORAGE CAPACITY—completed during the past year by the J. D. Moore Transfer
and Storage Company, 249 Cherry St. New-type concrete tilt up sidings and other modern
features make this warehouse completely fire proof. 2 ‘
New Storage Construction Plans Announced
By the J. D. Moore Transfer and Storage
Expansion of storage warehouse
will be built of concrete, steel, tile
and brick This new storage will
capacity and better service facil-
ities whl’ be the keynote for 1948 bring Moore’s total storage capaci-
with the J. D Moore Transfer and
Storage Co . 249 Cherry St.
The 1947 construction program
of the company saw the erection
of a modern, fireproof warehouse
and garage for the housing of the
company’s equipment. The new
construction made three modern,
fireproof warehouses which the
company offers its customers for
correct storage and handling of
goods.
The construction program for
1948 will include another new ware-
house to be started about March
15. This new construction will be
added to the north side of the
present storage. About half of the
construction job will consist of re-
modeling. while the rest will be
new construction. The warehouse
will, of course, be fireproof and
ty to 35.000 square feet.
J. D Moore has also announced
plans for moving all merchandise
to the north, side of their storage
as soon as the new warehouse is
complete. Conveyor belts will be
installed to facilitate the moving
of goods directly from the rail-
road cars to the warehouse Fur-
niture stalls will also be built in
the storage space as well as bal-
conies being added for additional
storage room for furniture.
Moore’s warehouses are abso-
lutely as near dust-proof as can
be acquired in storage rooms This
dust-proofing is greatly aided by
the construction of plastered ceil-
ings in the warehouses ' a feature
not, often found in the average
storage room.
J. D. Moore believes his com-
pany is now better prepared than
ever to handle goods for storage
and all kinds of moving. His firm
specializes in long-distance moving
of goods are the four vans which
comprise the J. D. Moore fleet
