Results from Monday March
of the 1966 American Red Cross interviews after the national
campaign for members and
funds, called for widespread vol-
untary financial support of the
Red Cross to meet its disaster
commitments and increased ser-
vices for U. S. servicemen in
South Viet Nam. Ennis chapter
currently is in its annual Red
Cross fund drive.
Mr. Sarnoff spoke in an inter-
view on the “Today” telecast on
NBC. Many of the network’s af-
filiates carried local Red Cross

segment of the show.
“The Red Cross spends over
$100,000,000 on its services each
year," Sarnoff said. “Over forty
cents out of every dollar that it
receives goes toward providing
services for the military. One
of the reasons for the increased
need is that Red Cross is going
to spend an additional $4,000,-
000 in Viet Nam as a result o f
the increased activities there.”
The RCA president also talked
about ARC disaster services and
Hurricane Betsy, one of t h e
largest disasters in Red Cross
history. “Hurricane Betsy cost
the Red Cross—out of its own
funds contributed by the Ameri-
can public — over $17,000,000,"
he said. “These are monies giv-
en to disaster victims—
loans, but outright.”

build the disaster funds and for
services to the armed forces.
Presently there are over 1 3 0
ARC staff in South Viet Nam in
the field in hospitals, and at
