and attacked three professors—two
( them British—with a pistol.
“Police said the assailant, Tamir
El’Naffrawi, shot British profes-
sor Richard Wheeler Haines in the
arm and Mahmoud El Batrowy,
Egyptian lecturer. In the hand. He
then clubbed Dr. Douglas E. Der-
ry, 70-year-old Egyptologist, with
the pistol butt.
