In a double ring ceremony Moo-
day afternoon at 5:30 o'clock, Shir-
ley Jane Bowen became the bride
of Jerry Dean Walker
The bride is the daughter of
Mr. and Mrs. J. C Bowen, 933
Beech St. He is the son of Mrs.
J. Dean Walker, 834 Ross Ave.,
and the late Mr. Walker.
The Rev. W. E Peterson read
the ceremony in the First Method-
ist Church. Pews were marked
with white satin and plumose The
all-white altar had a background
of floor baskets of white gladiolus-
es and asters in the choir Can-
delabra was garland with plumose
and palms were used in the back-
ground. Chancel rail had a semi-
circle of palms.
The bride, given in marriage by
her father, wore a gown she de-
signed and made. It was fashioned
of Chantilly lace over slipper sat-
in in ballerina length. Full skirt
was gathered and worn over .
crinoline. Scallops in the bodice
neckline were repeated In the hem
line. Decollete was filled with ny-
tone net and self buttons were
down the back. Scallops were re-
peated in the lace sleeve insets,
s high neckline was finished with
a small roll down collar. Lace
mitts with three lace covered.but-
tons came to a point over the
hand, and were elbow length. Short
tiered nylon tulle veil tapered to
a waistline point, and was held
in place by a bandeau of lace
with clusters of lilies of the val-
ley on either side. She wore white
satin opera pumps. A small gold
cross locket she wore wss given
her by her paternal great grand-
mother. She also wore marriage

in the United States by her mater-
nal great grandmother and sent
from France. She carried a cas-
cade of stephanotis centered with
a white orchid.
Matroe of honor was Mrs. Hoy
Alford of Roswell. N M . sister
of the bride. Maid of honor was
June Edington, and bridesmaids
were Helen Haynes, and Owen
Hannah of Mangum, Okla.
D. H. Jefferies. Sr., grandfather
of the bridegroom, was best man.
Ushers were Frank Johnson, Don
Noland, and Dan Loving at Ama-
rillo, cousin of the bridegroom.
The bride's attendants were
dressed identically in tightfitting
taffeta gowns with ruffle trimmed
bodices. Overskirt and top was of
nylon net and stole and abort
mitts were of net also. Their head-
dresses matched the color of their
dresses with velvet ribbon and
garlands of the same colored flow-
ers and raffles of nylon lace.
Mrs. Alford wore heather rose.
Miss Edington, pastel green, Miss
Haynes and Miss Hannah pastel
shades of blue and yellow. They
carried French colonial bouquets
of asters matching the colors of
their dresses.
Mrs. Dub Wooten, organist, ac-
companied Dr. Richard C. von
Ende who sang, "1 Love Thee,’'
"Thine Alone," and "O Promise
Me.”
Mother of the bride wore a two
piece ahantung blue dress with
blsck velvet hat, pink gloves, and
pink rosebud corsage.
Mother of the bridegroom wore
a cotillion blue crepe dress with
black velvet hat and gloves, and
a corsage of happiness roses.
Reception was held at the home
of Mr. and Mrs. D. H Jefferies.
Jr., 2849 South Sixth St. Bride's
table was laid with a white heir-
loom drawnwork cloth end decor-
ated with the attendants' bouquets.
Included In the houseparty were
Mrs. A. L. Stewart, Mrs. Theron
Guffy, Mrs. Hugh Longino of El
Paso, Mrs. A. E. Fogle, Mrs, W
W. Haynes, Mrs. J. V. Edington,
Mrs. George Moon, Mrs R. E.

Phipps of Mangum, Okla, and

Guests were present from El
Paso, Fort Worth, Amarillo, Cole-
man, Stanton, and Mangum, Okla.
- For the wedding trip to Fort
Daria, the bride was wearing a
brown mallinor drees with black
velvet accessories and orchid cor-
sage.
After Sept. T, the couple will
live in Lubbock.
The couple was graduated from
Abilene High School. Both will at-
tend Texas Technological College
thia fall. He has attended Texas
Tech one year, and she went to
McMurry College one year. At
Texas Tech he was a member of
the Wranglers Club.
